I too enjoyed meeting some of the folks in the club. I joined yesterday. Everyone I met was very nice and many were very knowledgeable about different aspects of the hobby. I could not stay for long due to other commitments but will be back, next time I will bring some plants or hopefully fish. Glen the multies look great and have settled in nicely. ;D

We had a good time too. The playground being closed was a serious bummer, but honestly with the playground open I wouldn't mind doing it there again sometime. The rain didn't bother me, it was mostly just amusing . You mean people made me get fish that needed their own tank, so I was scrambling to set up a 10-gallon for these wee occelatus gold you made me buy (and the tiny pleco my son just had to have). Thankfully between a bit of scavenging and a piece of Poret foam I brought back from Jon I've got a shiny new Hamburg MattenFilter running on a 10 gallon with some sand, some shells, and some occelatus gold (and a wee tiny ABN pleco). Now the joys of cyling with fish (which I try to avoid) begins! I asked my wife to put the plants I forgot about (bolbitus from 'bama plants) in the tank, and she discovered that !@#% bag of Malaysian Trumpet Snails that nobody would buy. Now they're in the 10 gallon too *grumble*. When she called me up to confirm that it all went well she said "Your fish are funny!". Maybe there's hope for her as an aquarist? She noticed the new additions to the 29g (thanks Mark!) and was apparently amused by their antics. It was good to see everyone again... good food, good times, and my voice even recovered by the time I got home -- good thing there weren't any more auction items! And in reply to Rick the Prez about a BAP -- actually, on second thought I'll start a different thread with my thoughts on a BAP (in a nutshell though, I don't think what's described is really a BAP, but it's certainly something we could do if enough people were interested. I'd still want to see a more traditional BAP regardless of whether we implemented what was described). -Rick (the armchair aquarist)

well this was my first swap and I was unsure on how everything went. So I wish I would have brought some fish for the auction. I think the fry I had were a little to small to auction off though but anywho. Next swap I am donating a bag of fish to the club. Not sure what yet. Depends on what I have at that time I guess.

Ricks idea sounds good about a different thread for BAP. I wish we could have had enough copies of all the paper work on BAP and CARES for every one to take one home. Maybe a thread could be started on each with all the information posted too.

Had some fun and most the fish made it home in good shape. I didn't think that the young fish we have would bother the plecos we got, but I was WRONG.

Tim, Pleco's are rather resilient and will prob. hold their own, even if small, but they must have hiding places and food they can get to. Stick a fork into a small piece of zucchini or yellow squash a few times a week and sink it to the bottom and they'll eat @ night. What did you mean " most of your fish made it home?" Did you lose some ?
The BAP program will be implementing will be on a more national level to co-incide with other fish clubs in the USA, but the idea a member had about bringing some small fry siblings and taking them to various folks homes and then bringing them back for judging was another members idea that I liked. This could be any kind of fish. A guppy, sword, tetra, catfish, cichlid, etc... Any fish that a member is successful in breeding and has extra fry from to allow such participation. It would be fun for any willing to participate. Even the kids could do this. Just food for thought. Another idea of ways to involve the ones who don't want to do the BAPS program.

As was briefly mentioned earlier, we need to all be suggesting ideas and asking around now for a location for our Fall swap/meet, which is usually in mid to late October. We need an indoor site in or very near to Nashville. A church fellowship hall, a rec. ctr., a board room, etc... We looked into the use of hotel meeting rooms in the past, with several locations in Nashville, but the price was in the hundreds of dollars, thus not in our ball park prices. One of you might find one with a reasonable rate now though. If so, let someone know and we'll look into it. We don't have enormous amts. of cash to spend so it has to be either free or of a very reasonable rate. We need ALL of you asking fellow co-workers, neighbors, fellow church goers, friends, your business/work contacts, etc... (anyone who will talk to you about this) This will take all of us asking, and NOW, to find a location that suits our needs.
**************PLEASE, WILL ALL HELP WITH THIS PROJECT ! ****************
When you find a location that is a possibility, let an officer know or put the info on the forum so an officer can contact them, who ever that might be, to ask for information, or go see the location to see what can be worked out.
THANKS TO ALL, AHEAD OF TIME, FOR ASSISTING WITH THIS !

I know this is late, and I don't know if they let sales happen or what not, but I have a 2000 sq ft club house we can rent for $100. If we have it before labor day we also have an adult pool, community pool, and kiddie pool. So if all else fails we have a back up.

You can throw a rock from clubhouse and it will land in metro Nashville.
