Whats The Status?

Just wondering when the fun still is going to pick back up or get started around here. We were talking about BAPS for awhile and then is died off. Are we still doing this or is it a dead subject? Also I know Jon just got back from vacation less then 24hrs ago, but is there a date we are gonna start the photo of month back up? Are we gonna try anything lile tank of the month, female of the month or anything like that? Also are we still going to be doing a monthly auction?


Just food for thought but may Jon could use some help with the POM ot some other activities. I mean Jon holds a full time job, the fish store, runs the forum and has a family. Yes Jon is a beast but he cant do everything himself. The year I have been here I have been hearing that we were going to start a committee for several different projects. Whats the status of that? That would be a good way for some non board members to get more involved with the club and the forum.

Im not trying to be debbie downer but these "Fun Polls" just aint cutting it. We need to do something to get the members we have more involved and make this place somewere our members want to come to on a regular basis.

Please dont take this the wrong way. Cause I know the way one person reads something compared to another person it can be inturprested differently. I just want to see the club/forum grow and be a fun place to come to. You may think im complaining and thats cool, but if nobody speaks up nothing with ever happen.

Sounds like it's time for Intervention !!!!! BOO HOO HOO !! Yes pay back is a B---- !! LOL !! But I do agree with Brian completely !!! The club needs sometime to keeps the members and potentional members attention to where they want to be involved !! I like the Fun Polls, but we need more excitement !! I am not into doing the picture thing, but a lot of members are so it a really good thing and I do enjoy looking at the pics. I am just not good with a camera so if we had a worst picture cat. I would be sure to win !! LOL !I don't really have any ideas at this point, but looks like I am going to be having some extra time on my hands and would be glad to help out in any way. Come up with something new Brian, we got your back !!! The club members are all so spread out that getting together quite often is not an option, so we have to figure out something that we can do he on the forum !!! ANY IDEAS ?

It appears that no one else in the club has any input for the club B.A.P. I think we should decide who the BAP Chairperson is going to be so we can try to move this forward.

I wouldnt mind helping with it but I have never done it before so I have no idea how to run it, but whatever I can do fron home to help with it im game. Would have to be work I can do from home due to my work.

We all have put out several great ideas but noone hardly ever wants to take charge or even help with them. Im down for helping anyway I can. Some members complain about we dont do anything but dont even want to volunteer any help. In order to make this club great its going to have to be a team effert. EVERYONE NEEDS TO STEP UP (including myself)

Brian , back a few years ago I was the president of a die-cast car club and we tried doing a few fund raisers , some did ok but some didn't . Of course being a die-cast club someone brought up the idea of doing a raffle on a Hot Wheels Treasure Hunt car (usually the one everyone was looking for) and it did OK, but then again it only caught the attention of club members or someone into collecting cars. So I got to thinking we needed something to attract the attention of the general public instead of just collectors. I had a lady to come into my office one afternoon asking a question and we got to talking about other things and she told me she made home made quilts as a hobby in her free time. I asked her if she ever sold any of them and she said she had a few I could look at and see what see had. So I brought it before the club the next months meeting about buying one and doing a month long raffle and of course we did and after replacing the money for the quilt the club still made a little over $550.00 profit which really helped out during our yearly Christmas Toy Drive . Of course we collected toys all year for the drive, but were able to take the money and actually able the buy some clothes for the children of a couple of familys and had enough left over to even buy a turkey and a few other things for the familys Christmas dinner.
I do know this was a long story to make a point, but I am saying is that our club could do things like this to help generate money for a worthy cause of our choice !! Actually club members could possibly find things around their home to donate for a raffle. And it doesn't have to be anything even related to fish that someone may want to buy a raffle ticket on !! And this may not be something anyone would be interested in doing, but I am just saying that from past experience we did really well with it and always put the money to good use. And the attention it drawed to the club didn't hurt anything either !! We even had people to join that were not collectors, but just wanted to be involved in a organization that was moving forward and willing to help the under privaliged or anyone in need !! JUST A THOUGHT !!

Im down for anything that would help the club and helping the community is an added bonus. Or vise versa. I was just throwing out some ideas, but lately thats all we have been doing is throwing out ideas and no actions take place. Im not in a.position, with my job, to take control over all of these ideas, nor do I want to step on the feet of the the board members.

Ill just put it from my point of view, my opinion, the way I have looked at this club the past year I have been a member. When I joined last year after I got stationed here, I talked back and forth with Rick (President) to see what the club had planbed, future plans for the club and what not before I joined the club. Even though its only $15 when you have a family of 6 $15 can be a lot at times. So after a few emails with Rick and enjoying myself greatly on this forum I joined. Within this year time frame the only thing we have done is start a POM and an auction, which Jon has headed both of those. Besides myself and others that have suggested other activities or ideas othing has happened with them. Im not pointing fingers at anyone cause we are all busy with work, familes and other activities, but we need to do something soon. The activity on the forum is nowhere near what it was a year ago and we have a lot more members now then we did then. When I joined I think we had 25-30 members and now we are what between 50 or 60? Something wrong when in a year you have twice as many members and drastically less forum activity. All im saying its we need to do ANYGHING to jump start the activity again.

+1 Brian !!!! I am so far away from Nashville and with my health issues it makes hard !! But I am hoping after this week the health issues might possibaly start getting better and if we plan the things out ahead of time I am sure I can get a driver to get down that way. I am game for making it work and do what I can to help !!!

Well said. I joined this forum to learn from people close to home but it appears there only a handfull of people that even post here. Jon cant do it all and I have already posted my opinion on the "Fun Poll".

I just want to add my two cents worth of my opinion as well. I wasn't too sure about how much time I would spend coming to this forum, after becoming addicted the the planted forum I was used to. It was a slow start, but after meeting some of you folks at the swap and locally, I find myself always coming here every time I pull up my email, which is several times a day. I'm usually disappointed that there are no new posts. I like the conversations, even when I know nothing about the fishies being posted about.
I babble, just to be included and keep things going cause I like the conversations. I would really enjoy more activity in the forum, more posts to read, more members to talk with. It is nice to talk with folks that I can potentially meet because we are all some what in the same vicinity.

Well the way I see it is here are a hand full of people on the right track, but it does take a lot more than a handfull to make it work !!! Come on club members where is everybody at First we need input, but then we need action !!! Isn't that why we joined the club to start with is to be part of a group with the same interest ?? Then lets be a group !!!!!!!

I was going to comment on this thread right after you posted it Brian but I wanted to discuss it with the other board members first. I am still waiting on responses from others but want to let you know that it has been brought up and I have offered to start a Tank of the Month Photo contest. I'm sure the rules/regulations will mirror the POM contest but I have a couple of ideas to make it a little different. Just wanted to let you know that we hear you and the others!
