Here is the tale and it is true. I need suggestions. Keep in mind that me and snakes can't share the same spaces.
A few days ago my 2 different species of singing frogs in my goldfish/Koi pond abruptly stopped singing. I paid little attention to it right at first.
The next day a friend of one of my teen friends called attention to me to look at something moving around my pond. About that time we heard a frog start squealing like a small child and ran to investigate.
We saw a 4', or longer, solid black snake, running into the undergrowth and under the liner of my waterfall and the squealing continued for a bit then ceased. My frogs are still present, but totally silent now. It has been 4 days, no more sitings of the snake, but he must still be present, cause the frogs are scared.
How does one find/remove/kill the predator or enemy ?
Remember my first lines said me and snakes don't share the same space well.
Ideas ?
I thought about a frog gig on a poll, but the snake is long enough to turn around on me, unless I have the opportunity to stab near the head, ..... then that is WAY, WAY TO CLOSE for me.

other than digging it out and grabbing it I have no advise. It sounds like just a rat snake (constrictor) which will eat frogs. You could also try catching the frogs and holding them in something for a while till the snake leaves to look for food elsewhere

It could be a black king snake. We had one at my dads house. I understand your stance on snakes, but I would hate for you to kill it. If it is a kingsnake, it is a beneficial creature. It would keep away poisonous snakes, and mice.

I had one last year that killed 4 kio before I finally caught it. I used a large net that I use for bass fishing. I then dumped it in a grass sack and took it about 5 miles down the road. if you think your frogs dissappearing sucks. Wait till you see it carrying off you fish. They usually can't even swallow the fish so they end up dead for know reason.
