Here is some really cool fish i have wanted for some time to breed. I am ordering 6 3m/3f adult WC fish I have been on a waiting list for about a year now for these. IMO one of the coolest tangs out there. I have a 100gal tank that has been set up and waiting for them for over 3 weeks now. cant wait to take pics of these fish!!!! and get some fry, thesy say they are hard to breed ,but whats does that mean? well if i am successfull then i will hardly bealbe to keep them in stock once they breed. wish me luck. Ooh, are these the ones that dig mud tunnels? -Rick (the armchair aquarist) That would be them... some of the coolest cichlids i have seen. I dont have mud in my tank but i did put really deep sand with some pvc tunnels in it for them to digg out and breed. There is hardly any of these in the states. very rare, I really hope i can get them to breed.

Have you read that the sand idea with buried pvc works, or is this your idea for a trial run ?

the info on these is not vast as they are hard to breed. this is from a guy who has had them breed for him, and seems to be gettign good success with the pvc pipe idea. they like really deep tunnels and with out adding mud i am not sure there is another way to pull this off. Maybe beable to pull it off with some rock caves with sand covering them. not sure.

ok here are some pics of the tank set up! each cave will be 18" deep. one is made from PVC 2" pipe ,and the other is made out of a rock i found years ago with a hole drilled in the center of it, and some flat long rocks that are round on the inside... each are facing each other , if this starts problems i will simply add a large rock between them.. only thing that suxed is by me placing these new cave in the tank i had a huge sand cloud in the tank agian! so that is why you will see about 5 HOB filters around the top of the tank filled with floss to quickly calm the sand down! before the fish get here on Friday. . pics are of my phone taken today as i was leaving to work... so sorry for the quality. Pic after i made the sand MAD! lol (and yes that is a egg tumbler filled with floss to help lol) Pic taken today when i got up... over filteration FTW. The Rock Cave!!! love that rock! wish i could find 8 more. Here is the PCV pipe cave! i know the sand does not look deep but that is 3" deep sand lol.. Might add more slowly later on i have another 50lb bad ready if needed.

What type of sand did you use? Great looking set-up!

This sand was a mix of 3 bags some left over black sand from Petsmart, some filter sand (home depot) ,and some (lowes) leveling sand.
The play sand is good with a light Rinse where the Leveling sand needs a much better Rinse. and the black sand from pet stores is nice to just to much money =p
On a side note here is a vid of the type of fish im getting Dang they are so cool...
