Good deal man !!! What is the HP on it ? I have three of these guys (of course only one running at a time) but I love it. Very quite compared to what I was using. Also if this is the big one it can also me wired for 220 to save on electricity. I talked to a company rep about my pump (blower) and he said the key to being effecent was to put a bleeder in you outlet side of the pump with a valve then get everything you want on it up and running at full force then try opening the valve on you bleeder to reduce back pressure on the pump making it run more economic. Suprising enough you can release alot of back pressure and still do everything you want it to do only not cost as much to run it. Hope this helps if you need any help with it drop me a line and I will do what I can. Good luck and enjoy !!! Tom

Thanks, I am sure when it comes time to hooking this bad boy up i will need some help. If you could take some pics of how your system is hooked up that would be awesome! also some pics of the bleeder valve.
I will post the HP later oh when i go back out in the fish room

Impressive deal ! Congrats ! Very nice loking blower ! Find it on craigslist ? My air supply is a large piston pump operating well over 100 outlets. Who went under in the fish hobby that used to use it and now does not ? A shame we lost that breeder/hobbyist.

Tom, Would it be recommended to bleed a piston pump for long life as well, or just the blowers ?

How.many tanks are you running on it? They are economical to run 100+ tanks, but under 50 you will have a lot of waste.

i had a small blower 2 yrs ago when i was partners with a guy , we had 80 outlets on it that ran just fine. we used another outlet like you put a air line on as our bleeder. if you will put a foot of air line on your bleeder you won`t even hear it

Rick, you can bleed if you aren't using the recommended number of outlets. Otherwise, bleeding it is diverting air that could be used to run more aquariums and wasting energy. With the blower, or air pump, you have the bleed line and turn valve until you see sponge filters start to run.
But once again, if you are bleeding a large amount of air, your pump is too large. You should be bleeding just enough to relieve pressure.
Glens looks to be the size of mine, maybe larger, so he will have basically a hair dryer running 24 hrs a day, probably double or triple the energy of the types of air pumps. They are great if you have about 200 outlets.

That with a blow out valve would be fine, if it is a smaller one. A medium or larger one can run up to 1200+ outlets and would be too much. Check the hp and get back to us. Also the depth of your tanks will matter alot as well. 65 deep tanks vs 65 10g tanks will need different pressures to get sponge filters to work. Get all the tanks and sponges in place, fire it up and turn the valve to the point where you can see the sponge filters work. Then leave it there.
It all depends on the hp. Mine is the smallest, or next to smallest they make, and it is running at least 220 outlets with some left over.

let me go see what HP it is. i know its not as big as the one i saw at the swap.
Edit: It is the 1/3 hp so its the smallest one. worth about 500-600$ new.

That is perfect, a $1500 one would have cost an extra $200 a year in electricty probably. For $100 that is a great buy and will be exactly what you need.
