Wow. Bad rap from salt water aquarists David. I have several of their lights over my tanks and they have done fine. But I have no salt spray. Interesting. Never bought anything but light fixtures and bulbs, but no real complaints. I have noticed that several of the screws in some of the fixtures were not stainless, and have begun to rust, but most were.

Everything I read, seemed seemed to say ok review, some have even upgraded it. With a stronger pump. There is a clear version out that has a built in uv .. I will buy one and try it out on the next tank I buy. I don't see hoe it could leak they use the same sys to seal it as the fx5does it is a very tight fit. If anything I just think it would work like poop, the flow out of it seems really close to the fx5, so that is way better than most canisters on the market. And for 50 buck I feel it worth a shot... Lol if nothing else it will just be a huge power head lol.

A pump like that could empty an aquarium pretty fast if it was leaking....we've had our pond filters leak outside and almost drain 900 gallons over the day (while we were at work)...

here is a discussion of them on monster fish keepers www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?357605-Quick-Odyssea-CFS500-Reviewlooks like i am not the only cynic out there Ask yourself something. When it comes to equipment that will contain or transport hundreds of gallons of water IN YOUR HOUSE, do you really want to find out how much Fate loves you? most people report success although setup seems a little tricky. probably a decent bargain.

I think the problem with a poor fitting hose connection might be the hose actually flying off and then water continuing to pump, moreso than just the canister itself leaking. That's where ours was leaking, around the hose connection.

Here is my question are the hose connectors the same as the one off the FX5? if so that is one easy Fix. just get some of the FX5 ones! and boom no more leaks lol.
