ALL FORUM USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN THESE POLLS !!!
Your officers desire your input on a variety of subjects. Along with these polls being fun and informative, they provide much needed information of your desires and aspirations for your club, along with your habits and techniques of aquatic husbandry; all of which is informative to your sitting board and to each other, as usable information for all forum users and club members.
Having said that, please cast your vote !!! We need votes for this process to work !!!
Thanks.
Rick Prez.
P.S. --- If you choose option D or option #4 in this poll, please post your suggestions and reasons into this thread for all to consider, discuss, and ponder. Thanks so much. r.e.

Ryan if and when we start the BAPS we are going to have to have atleast quartly get togethers to auction off the fry grom the breeders program. So I think was Rick was asking once we start it when and how often would you like our get togethers.

If we move up to quarterly, we need to get the word out better. Auctions only work if you have people in need of fish. A lot of us are stocked fairly heavy, we need new people with empty tanks. We need to spread out and hit other forums and clubs.
Mark drives to St. Louis, JD goes to Atlanta, and I have gone all over as well. That means if we put on a good auction, people might come from that far away here. We just need to let them know.

And the more people we get involved in our baps means more fish for auction which in time can lead to a lot of people coming from all over to buy our auctioned fish which will also put more money into the clubs bank account for future events.

I agree in part, but we need your average Joe looking for fish that may not want to be part of the club. There are a ton of people out there that have fish tanks and are not happy with local store selection, but also think joining a club for the fish is taking it too far. We need these people to show up.
Baps is great for people with lots of tanks, but that is a rarity in the local hobby. If we don't get new blood to auction, bags of fish will be going for a couple bucks. Just think about last auction. We had ten bags of fish that didn't bring much money. Just imagine 30 bags and same people.
Anything I put in auction these days, I write off as a loss.

Have we considered keeping the primary bi-annual swaps, but adding some "local" get-togethers that are rotated in the calendar? Have a summer "MCAA-South" meet and a winter "MCAA-North" (or vice-versa). The summer/winter ones would likely be smaller, but also easier for the locals to go to.

Jon you ARE SO RIGHT!
You could keep your twice a year swap meets and start out a little milder... rotate your monthly business meeting for officers amongst the officers homes and convince officers to "host" an auction as well.. this would rotate the locale a bit so more of your far sprung members could join and bring non member friends in on it too hopefully and start getting people looking for what they want and maybe even doing a request list for certain stock as side deals or auction items.
ok Deep South Guppy something or other-- been a while but-- are far more spread out than MCAA and this seemed to works well for them.. though they refused to come as far South As southern Alabama-- weird to me as they are called Deep South Guppy Breeders but that is another discussion.. lol

I am encouraged with this polls results.
I encourage all forum users to voice their right to vote on this, and want as many votes or suggestions for ideas please !!!
Again, you do not have to be a club member to vote or offer ideas in these fun polls !!!!!!!!!!

Percentage wise it is, but to have a great swap, we need more than the 17 people that voted. I will feel better when monthly pole is getting 60 votes.

Rick and JON what if we send word to the louisville club about our swap meets , they have a huge club im not sure how many but i know its alot larger then ours we could reach out and send a invite to all the clubs that is with in a 3 hr drive. Mark and Mike go to St Louis every yr so why can`t we draw people like that?

I am always hesitant to reach out to other clubs to recruit. I wouldn't want folks doing that to us. Now, I do see folks from TN on sites like Aquabid and ThePlantedTank, E-bay and Amazon,etc...and reach out to them, inviting them to register, attend, and participate, since they are not local clubs that depend on their memberships to remain successful. I am not against the freedom of speech if you know someone personally and invite them to join us, but to send out a blanket invite seems wrong morally to me. I did on the other had invite the entire W. TN and E. TN clubs to join us for our last May 20 Swap/meet via their respective Presidents, but alas, none of either groups members or officers chose to join us then. I felt inviting them all, since we are all TN groups, seemed appropriate, and hope when they have events they will extend the offer to us as well, but again, alas, that has not happened to date.
As has been said, everyone has an opinion, and your opinion is yours , therefore not necessarily wrong, so this is mine, for now. I reserve the right to change my mind, but for now, and since I took this office I hold, I have followed this line of thinking.
If you know someone in their Louisville club, you could extend the question of how they seem to have such a huge following of participation, and then share your knowledge that you learn with us. That could prove to be an invaluable asset to all of us here.

i didn`t mean try to recruit fromm the other clubs i meant to let the club know that they are welcome to our auction/ swap meet if we get just 1 car load from each club then in my book its worth it. Scott is closer to the louisville club then i am maybe he knows more about them. i have sold alot of fish to some of the members but thats about it
