I would look at prevention first.
Some of the main reasons fish get sick are: water quality and makeup, temperature of the tank (fluctuations), types of foods you are feeding, the amount you feed, Adding new fish or plants without taking any precautions, wrong mixture of fish, over stocking tank, fish supplier, etc.
I use different techniques depending on the size of the fish, that I will not go into here that are a lot faster then the freezer.

I may have to try the freezer. There are other "mechanical" devices that may be faster but I'm not sure which is more humane.
I have a platy now that came to me with a blood "bruise" around his eye. He came from your purchased tanks Angel. The eye with the bruise around it is starting to push out. I'm thinking it has a tumor. I know that can occur with humans and brain tumors at least.

Aw man I'm sorry! I wouldn't have known. It could be they do get tumors. The woman I bought them from had her fish a very long time so it could have been one of those old age things. I hate it tho.

No worries at all Angel, it happens. Death is simply the final part of life.
My daughter still is in love with "Pearl" that big pearl gourami we got from you. My 55 gallon bedroom tank is almost all gourami now in fact, great fish. I picked up 2 more smaller pearls and 2 violets at aquatic critter this weekend in fact.
