IS there a tank size that these *^*#( Polleni types from Madagascar won't try to kill each other? I find 1/4" acrylic makes a fine divider...if glued in very well. Little wonder they are endangered! P Lamena (AKA Nourissati) are even worse! And now that I read directions...30-50 gallons work for Vics quite nicely. For some Madagascars...infinity?

They breed pretty well, honestly I have not even been harvesting them but they do ship well. Currently have ~30 species/subspecies.

The partroplus do really well in groups with 150+g tanks as long as they are not lamena . Lamena need a vat or a pond end even then good luck. They will forever be my biggest money pit that brings me nothing but frustration.

Yes JD, I think I am done with those! The other-IMO "real"-Paratroplus (Damii, Dambabe, Menarambo, Maculatus, Keinerii) are scrappy and delicate but not murderous lunatics. I'll do Lamenas again when I have ponds in Florida. FWIW, I tried the Lamenas in a 120 with 5 dividers-making 6 tanks-and they developed that white stringy poop then each fungused. The water quality was spectacular and even my Pollenii Andapa Typus are doing well in another such arrangement. The lone Lamena in a 120 with large Maculatus is doing fine and their water quality has detectable ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. All Lamenas came from the same place yours did, same time, same size, same diet, same everything. My 6 that died all did so within 2 weeks of each other, so I am blaming stress. Maybe the lil buggers need a Xanax Let someone else find out, whether they are 16$ from Laif or 45$ from Dan, the result is the same. Anybody wanna buy a Lamena? I have 100$ in it!
