Which way do you feel about hybrid fish in our hobby ?
This question is not only an interesting one, but will be valuable to your MCAA BAP committee as they decide on the point system and policies they will implement for our BAP program. Please vote !
As I said in an earlier post today, there are a lot of folks who log on our forum every week, some 50+/-, and we still have only around 20 who cast votes in our polls. I would implore all 50 of you to participate ! That would be just Fantastic ! So again, PLEASE PARTICIPATE !
THESE FUN POLLS ARE OPEN FOR EVERY MEMBER, FORUM PARTICIPANT, OFFICER, & BAP COMMITTEE MEMBER TO PARTICIPATE IN. (Only visitors that are not registered are limited from participation, although even they can see the results.)
I know we drive home participation all the time, but it seems that the requests fall on many deaf ears, and I am not sure I understand why.
Feel free to PM me if you don't want to say publicly on the forum, and we can discuss why you don't want to participate. If you are kind with your words I will be with mine too, and we can discuss anything you desire.
Thanks ! Rick MCAA Pres.

Rick, this is a contentious issue and one that has equally enthusiastic fans on both sides of the discussion. I didn't answer the poll because I do not have an "extreme" position on it. Personally, I do not have any and take great steps to avoid cross pollination of species in my tanks, but won't condemn someone who feels otherwise. I also don't keep guppies but if someone else wants to, we still have common ground and don't need to try bossing each other around LOL. I know that isn't your intent and admire your willingness to ask about hybrids!

I see both sides too. I have two blood parrots that I've had since I first got into the hobby nearly ten years ago. Didn't know they were a hybrid at the time, but still have them. I like flower horns but have never owned one. I can see how a serious breeder would be against it.

As always, I appreciate the response fellas. I agree we all have opinions on many things, and this is just another of them. It will still be interesting to see how folks vote, even if it is still just the same 20 or so. But,......I am in hopes that there will be more votes than that, even if they all want to comment like you. Varied, polite, opinions and comments are always fine by me. Maybe I worded the answers incorrectly. Maybe the answers should be 1) OK by me. 2) Don"t like it. 3) Don"t care. Hey all !!! -----Try to answer the poll with this idea in mind as you read the answers of which to choose from.

I did not answer either as I'm not jumping for joy or filled with hatred. I own a few CA hybrids (flowerhorns) and enjoy the ones I have as much as my pure fish. I breed a lot of wild type cichlids so you do not have to be one or the other. Flowerhorns pose no threat to pure bred cichlids. Stupid/unethical people harm the hobby every day with lies about what they are selling.

Sorry for delay in the fun polls. If you all have read my thread entitled, "I've been away a while" you will understand the hiatus in these polls. Now, to close this one and open #14.
