I'm thinking of adding the actinic LED strip below to my frontosa setup for a moonlight/blue/night time look. Anyone had experience with these or could recommend something better? I want something narrow and low like this that can just sit behind my existing T8 fluorescent strip, so a light that sits up on those snap-on legs is not really an option right now. Plus, I don't have a canopy on this tank, and the spill is already going to be significant I think - even with the light sitting basically on the glass tops. www.petsolutions.com/C/Aquarium-LED-Lighting/I/Aquatic-Life-Expandable-LED-Fixtures.aspx

Do they get warm at all? I could construct something to sit over them.

I normally keep frontosa tanks a bit darker and cooler than my other africans. I keep temp at 74-76 and a 48" light on a 72" tank. None of that is a must, but they seem to settle in better and have better color with it darker.

They don't get warm, and they are waterproof. I use them on my display tank at YMCA. You can cut it into 2 strips or just double it over.

I've been keeping all my tank lights off lately except from 6p - 10p, so I really only see them during that four hours at night. Thought I'd do this blue after that and overnight, going off in the early morning.

Sounds like a good plan.

What length were you going to get? The LED I showed are kind of a DIY. You have to make connection from transformer to light.

Well the tank is only 6 ft.
