I too am interested in participation, but have no pairs or fry to share @ the moment. I hope over the winter to do some breeding with my fish and have participant fish come spring/summer of next yr.

My son will be doing the Jr. BAP. I rarely have get long enough to turn in. There is one set back to my set up, which it is probably more of a feeding issue. But my fry grow slow. Which is a plus and a minus. Minus because when I do breed it takes so long to get to selling size. Plus when I buy 20+ 2" fish and they don't outgrow tank until I thin out.

This was a trip that I hope never happens again! I used an 18" enclosed trailer that I borrowed from a friend. I loaded a Toro 72" cut zero-turn commercial mower in the front half of the trailer. I then built a wooden rack to hold all the fish tanks in the back half (100 gl, 75 gl x 4, 40 gl x 6, 20L x 8, 10 gl x 7, Oceanic sump). Had two 125's and two 55's in the back of my truck. Two 20's inside of one 125, a 20 gl and sump inside the other 125. Back seat of the truck had nine 5 gl fish buckets. Passenger seat had one dog. A friend drove my car to South Carolina. He had the trunk packed full of guns. Back seat had two dogs and a 5 gl fish bucket behind the passenger seat. Passenger seat had one dog. Didn't even get out of Paris when it was apparent that the trailer was going to try and kill me. I was going downhill at about 55 MPH when the trailer started fish-tailing so bad that I thought it was going to drag the truck off the road. My twelve hour trip to South Carolina turned into 16 hours. I have never been so tired from driving in my life - I fought that trailer every second!! Destroyed a pair of tires on the trailer but finally made it there. Broke the 100 gl tank, only tank casualty during the trip (I broke a 75 gl while taking down the fish room). Lost four adult Zaire frontosa. All adult Kigoma frontosa survived as well as the fifteen juvenile Kitumba frontosa. Also took seven female Nanochromis transvestitus, they all survived. The dead adult frontosa appear to be a result of aggression in the buckets (I had to load them on a Thursday to beat a Friday rain storm so I could load the 125's, trip to SC was on the following Saturday). Had movers take my 240 gl to SC. They somehow managed to break the acrylic 65 gl sump for the 240. Filled the 240 3/4's full (to keep the water level below the overflow boxes) and put the remaining adult Zaire frontosa in it. The 240 was made by Glass Cages and has never had a problem. Got sponge filters and a fluval canister running on it. Put the Kigoma fronts in one of the 125's, and the juvenile Kitumba fronts in the other 125. Got sponge filters running on both 125's. Set up a 20 gl for the female Nanochromis transvestitus. Only had the 3.5 gls of water from the fish bucket for them. Called around Charleston to buy some RO water. The only pet shop that had RO water was closed. Had to use distilled water from Walmart. I will head to SC after deer season is over. I will have to tow the bass boat, but it pulls good - nothing like the 18' enclosed trailer! When I get to SC I will start drilling tanks and getting the new fish room on a central system.

Mark, maybe this will console you a bit....In '03 I sold my business and "retired to FL" (another story but retirement lasted 3 weeks). I had a HUGE quantity of stuff including collector vehicles, vehicle parts and two households to move, several of these loads went as far south as Ruskin (fish farm heaven, BTW). A divorce followed, the sale of a home then a complete change of direction and moved to our KY farm in '05. Most loads included a trailer and virtually every load was heavy, even the ones with my 22' gooseneck trailer for the collector vehicles. A couple of blazin' quick trips to address the divorce or the home sale or the current farm I own but most trips had a trailer behind my Cummins 3/4 ton truck. By the time all of the divorce feud, real estate sales and vehicles, fish tanks, household good were transported, I made FORTY TWO ROUND TRIPS, Ohio/FL or FL/KY. I could quote which businesses, truck stops, restaurants, WalMarts, motels, rest areas and yes, strip clubs (my rebellion, divorce, remember?) were by their I75 mile marker number. My 2 year old Cummins had 80,000 miles and again, most of them pulling trailers. If I ever move again, there will be a very large auction and I will move my backpack only. THANKS to the folks that evidenced an interest in the BAP! The lack of interest up til now in the MCAA BAP on the heels of an issue in a "very large fish club" and then another problem in an unnamed fish organization made me think the entire world had gone out to lunch LOL.

Wow to both. When I move I now know to take only my backpack.
Mark, you need Zaires, and I need to get rid of Zaires. When you are ready to go down that road again, give me a call, you will get the Mark special.

Thank you for the offer Jon, I will give you a shout later. Your story is truly insane Scott - I believe that I would not drag that trailer back to SC one more time, and I only made two trips with it! (I obviously had the trailer loaded bad - think I was way heavy on the tongue) On a different note, I will not even be starting the new fish room till mid January. Hopefully the BAP stays together until I can make some fry contributions. I intend to be a "long distance" participant in this club, and it looks like the Postal Service could use any business it can get!
