Mt. Juliet community center is now booked through thanksgiving. So that is off table. Whenever somebody finds a place and date let me know.

thats a shame the juliet center is all booked up. it looked like a good option. i've been trying to come up with any ideas but i've got nothing indoors and affordable. i am starting to think affordable basically rules out anything in davidson county... and well, so be it. it's not a major deal to drive another 15 minutes. i think indoors is the most important part at this point as was made evident by hail and lightning that tried to kill us all last time.

if it means a better venue, i would be okay waiting until december. Don't think there would be much of a crowd in December. To much family Christmas stuff and football going on.

I agree there is justified frustration with the subject of a meeting spot but maybe there is a bigger problem. I could be wrong, but Jon suggested one place and Rick suggested another. How many members suggested others? If the MCAA is to succeed, it will be because the members pull together towards common goals and challenges. What I have seen in unsuccessful clubs in the past is a group of people waiting to be entertained and the club leadership becoming fatigued. Then people say,"Gosh, the so-and-so just gave up. What a quitter". IF this is going to be a viable group of involved fish fans in the Nashville area, it will be because ALL of the members pitch in and help, run errands, network and learn together. Don't bash Jon or Rick or anyone else that is trying their best to make this work. We all have constraints, schedules, higher priorities, families, bills and unexpected issues in our lives. How many people besides these gentlemen have suggested places that they know would work or at least merit a one-time experiment? Yes, I'd like 5,000 sq ft of creature comforts, amenities, good parking and it could ideally be 100 yards from my fishroom. If it's preferable to click on the next forum or Facebook or Aquabid, that's all you'll have in the future, be content with it now and quit pointing fingers. If you insist on pointing fingers, remember how many are pointing back at you when you make that gesture. If 20 of the forum readers had offered their church basement, their local park's meeting room, their employer's break room, an apartment clubhouse, a corner of a warehouse, where their Scouts/Masons/Lions/C of C/Martial Arts/Ballet/Gymnastics/Bridge/Gun Club functions are held, Rick could have decided this immediately. Rick is the President, not our errand boy or entertainment director. I have identified 6 places in the city limits of our tiny and poor town to hold such a meeting. None of these are "perfect" and our population is 2,168. Cowboy up or blame yourself.

Might be able to get first or second weekend in Dec. Past that Christmas will mess it up.
Rick might be able to get the other place. I went by, and it is in a bit of a sketchy area. I wouldn't leave anything in your car.
All that said, I put this on the board including me. We have to be able to work together and make decisions in a timely manner. All we need is a couple good locations, I would hate to know amount of time it would take if we had six places to choose from. They would all get three votes and there would be chaos.
If we can figure this out and meet, even if it is informal, we need to iron this out by spring. We already missed our board meeting, so this would be two in a row we have missed. We are nothing more than a local forum if we don't meet.

I say we should get the Mt. Juliet community center for the first or second wk of dec , thats better then not having a swap meet at all If some can`t come then we will just have to have it with the ones that can make it. when you get this many people together its never going to suit everyone no matter when or where you have it I wasn`t able to be at the spring swap meet but that was my fault and the meet was a big hit so lets move this to the first wk end that we can get the center and get started making plans

I called back. When Ben called last week, the two dates we could have had booked day before he called. They said dates available between now and end of year are Sept. 30, Dec. 9, Dec 16. All Sundays. She said if we want a Saturday they book up a couple months in advance. Last tidbit, they have free WiFi along with other perks. Rick is hellbent on finding a place, so we can give him a few more days, then Ben can book Dec 9.
I usually take two weeks off anyway, so Dec as long as it isn't black Friday or week before Christmas works great for me. Seems more people are in to fish in winter as well, so may help attendance.
