After talking with them, and of what we need for swap, I think that is too early.
Ben will be following up with them to reserve December 9. Then we can move on and plan advertising and plan swap. They will let us come Saturday and set up so it is ready Sunday.
They said if we plan better in advance, we can get a Saturday in spring if we like their facility.

When Ben reserves it, he will check to make sure money is refundable or we can at least push it to another date.

Rick might be able to get the other place. I went by, and it is in a bit of a sketchy area. I wouldn't leave anything in your car. yeah i didn't think you would approve. anything close to 12th and edgehill is going to be sketch city. there is a reason it is cheap. my advice when dealing with this many people, someone just has to step up and make a decision. not everyone will be happy with it but if you try to appease everyone or wait for everyone to put in their input you will be waiting for ever and nothing will ever get accomplished. i mean what are we really talking about here? a location. is it really THAT important whether it is 20 miles this way or 20 miles that way? if your answer to that question is yes then you might want to reevaluate your life.

As always, there was a large number of people who stated they'd prefer to have the swap closer to downtown to make it more central and other various reasons. Yet, to my knowledge, none of those people are the ones who have been looking, contacting venues, etc.
So, it's the same ole story.
I contacted four places and got three replies. All were way out of bounds price wise. One of the Nashville parks/indoor centers is fine if Rick can wrangle the info and get dates, etc. Mt. Juliet is fine with me too. I'm with Ryan, driving a half hour, hour, hour plus twice a year isn't a big deal for me. If it were something we did once a week, then I can see having it at centrally located to downtown as possible to make it fair for everyone.

I've stayed out of this but I just have to chime in. This is borderline rediculous. There is no way it is that hard to find a location. I could easily have 3 free locations that would work. I'm not involved with it and will not be because I ended up having to handle 2 of the swaps pretty much by myself already. This is insanity to me. Just assign a swap leader and let them find a location. Have a vote once it is found and be done with it. We do not need a fleet of people looking for this. All that happens is no one does anything and time is waisted while we wait for people to find a location. The officers need to assign someone to find the Spring location now. They should have the location ready to vote on by Jan 1 at the latest and the location secured as soon as approved. As for a Nashville location. Almost none of the clubs have there events or swaps right downtown. Most are in a suburb sometimes an hour from downtown. I could not imagine that we have that many people complaining about Mt. Juliet as we only have maybe 10 people active on this site. Everyone talks, polls are created, nothing happens, people bicker about nothing. This cycle keeps reoccuring on this forum. Insanity = doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. My fry for the growout contest are going to be adults before anyone gets them . I personally think a swap in december is a bad idea. The weather is cold and people are getting ready for Christmas. This is why all of the fall auctions are happening right now or already just happened.

OUR club is a Tenn Club. I thought it was a least. So I guess its a Nashville club so I will be corrected. I have met some great people and try to get club to grow. Really your worried about central Nashville. We live in Knoxville and CAN GET A WARM HOTEL TO HAVE THE SWAP AT.

I have found someone I know who attends the First Bapt. Church, downtown Nash., and they are gonna find out in the morning (Sun.) who I can contact on Monday to use their facility in October, hopefully. Knowing who to ask is the key, IMO. There is a church in Franklin willing to allow our swap/meet, but I am still pursuing a Nash. location, to date.
The inside Nash. community center locations, and there were 3, informed me yesterday that the Nash. Mayor's office has told them they can have no more Sat. hours as a budget cutback, so the idea of it being partially free at any of these locations is a no go. The original idea was for us to have it before they closed on a Sat., Oct. 27 to be exact, and run past closing, thus spending $100., and being in Nashville.
Are there other folks among us who can offer inside ideas for October ? Surely some of you know someone you can call to ask about this. Rack your brains and make a call. I have called many locations, and the worst that anyone can say is no, or offer some extreme high price.
