I ended up with a python system when I bought a tank a few months back...but can find no good instructions on how to use it. Does anyone have any info? (I looked for a pdf instructions file online but can't find anything.) Thanks! It should be already assembled. Is it the type that connects to the faucet or the smaller version that requires a bucket to haul the water? Its a longer version that hooks to the faucet. I just don't know how it works, lol... I'll play with it tonight, and try not to make too big a mess.

You hook it to the faucet, and there's a valve that's usually on it or came with it that you can shut off the water flow . Very handy. If the valve is open water runs from the faucet to the tank just because that's what it does. If you don't want it to flow turn the valve to shut the water flow off. Then when you're removing water, use the big end that goes on it and suction the filth out. Once you get the siphon going, and I"m not great at this but if it hangs off the deck the water flow is lower than the tank water so it naturally pulls down, it just keeps going til you're done. then shut off the flow, wind up the hose and you're done. Easy directions from a woman's viewpoint. If you understand that you've been married too long hahaha

ok.... well ive been watching my tank very closely the last few days and have figured a few things out. the scales that the oscars are loosing were from the green terror. its funny cuz the only fish the green terror is mean too is the tiger oscar and the red oscar... he doesnt touch the albino oscar or any other fish in there for that matter. AND the jack dempsey doesnt put up with any of the gt crap...so he stays away from him...but goes out of his way to mess with the two oscars. Soooooo i took his cranky butt out of the tank and put him in a lil one for right now. so even though hes sick hes still got alot of fight left in him thats for sure. so im just giving him his daily dose of meds in the smaller tank now. so cross your fingers!!

We had a tiger oscar in the tank with a green terror a pink convict a red devil and a blood parrot. The oscar was the largest of all. SOMEONE stripped the scales off the oscar and killed it. I blamed the convict but Dennis was sure it was the green terror. Coulda been huh?

How are your nitrate levels. If they are low(Below 20 ppm) I would test the tank after about 3 days to see if they are starting to raise. The at 5 days until you see when you need to do a water change. When they get to 20 which I am thinking would be in a week or so do a water change to bring them back down.
Also Oscars will eat and eat and are very messy eaters try not to over feed.
Water quality in my opinion is one of the most important areas in this hobby.
Sorry about the GT being the problem child of the oscars but at least you know what was happening. Like I stated earlier Oscars are not that aggressive compared to a GT and a JD.

yeah im attached to my oscars more then the GT... so it really irritates me! but yes im happy i know what happened now and they can start there healing process. the oscars are also the biggest out of the tank...and its hard not feeding them... everytime i come near the tank they all come up and like..beg..im a sucker. but either way its strange that he was only doing it to the 2 oscars and not the 3rd? the albino is the biggest but not by much. yesterday i did a 50% water change... and before that i did 2 or 3 30% water changes. the water is alot more clear now.. but i think those meds were foggin it up a lil bit. i usally clean the tank and do a 20% like every other day. of course not cleaning like everything but i vacum it and all that. THANK GOD i put the tank near one of the windows so i could just put the hose from the vacume out the window and let it drain. Filling it stull royaly sucks but untill i can get one of those fancy things you was talking about i guess ill have to stick with my Pot. HAHA
Still waiting to see what the GT will do, either way i think i will have to get rid of him..even if he gets better. i dont want my oscars to die.
