I sold an auction on aquabid for $50. I quoted buyer shipping prices to California. A box Fed Ex overnight was $160 and Southwest Cargo was $55. He said he didn't want to go to the airport and that he gets a flat rate of $60 and I could use his Fed Ex account. Then is persistent on me shipping them ASAP.
So I go out of my way to bag and box fish then go to Fed Ex at airport. Time spent so far is about 2.5 hrs. When I get to airport, they said that fish box was going to cost $158 to ship with his account. I looked around and thought about putting the fish into a small box and cutting styrofoam box and making it work. Smallest box they had was $136 and second day was $122.
What would you have done?

No matter what you do JON I bet he will not be happy. People like that you can never make happy.

That sounds like a problem with no right answer. If he is experienced enough to have a FedEx account, he should have known you can't ship overnight TN to CA anything of any size for $60. I would have been tempted to go ahead and send with his account anyway. Downside is that he might leave you negative feedback on Aquabid.

That is the reason I no longer ship/sale fish. So much BS. I now just have other people collect them, give them to me and I spawn them and give them back the fry to sell. I just can deal with that kind of junk.

You could ban the turd from bidding on your stuff and let everyone else know about him/her on the Aquabid forum. How much feedback did the buyer have?

I think he was like 1/1
Here is what I did. His account was basically a cash on delivery. Since I wasn't saving much going to a smaller box, and fish he was getting would kill each other in a small bag, I mailed them like he told me to. He can not accept shipment and not pay shipping, but he won't get a refund. Or he can accept shipment and take it up with fed ex. I saved all emails where I tried to convince him to do air cargo for $60. Also, in LA they have 4 airports I could have shipped to.

I would have billed them to his account and not blinked an eye. What you don't always know is that depending on what the account is for he could be getting a huge discount. Fedex always quotes standard fees. The discount is not applied until payment. Either way he wanted you to ship using his account and that's what you did. Not your problem if he doesn't know what he is talking about.
I never gave people options when I was shipping. Big fish go by southwest with guarentee or by fedex but with no guarentee. Everything else ships fedex standard overnight with guarentee. I almost never had any issues and only had a couple of DOA's out of literally thousands of fish. At one point I was shipping at least 5 boxes a week with little to no issues.
