I've lookd at a lot of articles about how to reseal a tank if done correctly and we follow all the steps is it really safe? I've fallen victim to another dirty tank that I thought would clean up nice but under all that build up left some slight hard water spots around the top and when I emptied it out discovered it had a messy reseal job..but it holds water they just didn't smooth out the sealant so I'm thinkn bout scraping it out and trying to redo it just so it will look nicer..and the messy seals arnt noticable when its full of water..but I'm just picky I guess..overall its not that bad its just the ugly ducking of the house..

Its not that hard, just a pain. Be carefull with the silicone because I did it a couple of times and the smell of the silicone can half knock you out. Lesson learned use a fan. They have a smoothing tool at Lowes that will smooth out the trim. Get GE silicon 1 I think it is.

Jon is right. GE 1 or I is what you need. The GE Silicone 2 or II is NOT SAFE FOR FISH.
