I checked with Jon, no go. I went back to the critter this weekend, no go on any of them. Even the Syno. Pretty sure I'm going to have to wind up rolling the dice and ordering these.

You might try Jeff Rapps. Tangled up in cichlids.

Have been watching Ted's as JD said he had a lot of what I was looking for at ACA. I checked the other place tonight, no go.

Tank is still coming along nicely btw. Still giving it a bit more time for the plants to get some roots going. The majority of the plants are anubias species so they take a good long while to get roots established. I was having a problem with brown hair algae so I cut my lights back to 2x 4hr photo periods instead of 1x 10hr. It's helped a good bit. I'm going to hold off until October for any fish at all I think. If I add anything before then it'll be some Plecs and the Butterfly Fish. I've pretty much decided I'm going to order from WetSpot Tropical (http://www.wetspottropicalfish.com/) and hope for the best. They have pretty much everything on my list, and I've read good reviews. Hopefully it'll work out. Would anyone who has experience with Online Fish Ordering recommend a shipping method for me? Considering it's $200 worth of fish, I don't wanna get sloppy on the shipping. I was thinking Next Day FedEx/UPS and have it held at the terminal for pickup, or even doing air freight and picking them up at BNA. Suggestions please? Attachments:

I have not had any shipped to me but it's a pretty proven process by people who do it every day. Just make sure you're gonna be home on the day (obviously) and do it before it gets too cold. Haha.
If you're on FB, join the group "aquatic Support community." Good info and several people experienced with it there. Mainly large cichlid folks but they can still help and advise you.

Ordered the majority of my fish today.
4 Buffalo Head Cichlids 4 African Butterfly Cichlids 6 Synodontis Nigriventris 10 Congo Tetras
I wanted some Microctenopoma Ansorgii but they said they had to move their stock of those back to quarantine. Which made me feel better about ordering from them, as most places would have just sent them out. Anyway. They should all be here Tuesday. I am going to see how the tank looks with this group and then decide if I should track down more Micros, or look for some Buffei Cats, a regular Ctenopoma, or maybe some African Fire Barbs.
The African Butterfly Fish are doing great. They are eating crickets pretty steadily. Going to see if they will take frozen blood worms. If not it's no big deal as I keep crickets for my Crested Gecko anyway.
The only major problems I am having currently is a thick protein film forming on the water surface weekly. If I had to hazard a guess this is from plant decay (having some melt on my Water Onion). I am debating on a surface skimmer or just waiting it out. Also still having a bit of brown filamentous forming on stuff close to the surface. Again, guessing it is from some of the plant melt and just the tank still stabilizing. I have had both problems before and the worked themselves out after a few month. Adding the fish to get more beneficial bacteria and CO2 will help I think.

Shipped directly to your house?
How is your surface agitation? A powerhead near the top may do the trick.

That's another part of the problem. With the African Butterfly Fish, I can't have much surface flow/movement, so my flow is all directed back down in the tank.

Fish from Oregon got here this morning. Everything looks good with them. All were triple bagged and in an insulated box. All the fish were active right out of the bag, and look as healthy as possible. Colors are still a bit muted, but that usually takes care of itself after a couple of days in the tank and some food in the belly. The Bristlenose have cleaned up all the diatoms and the filamentous stuff is slowly disappearing too. The only thing that remains is the protein film, and it should be gone here soon. Attachments:

My Anomalochromis thomasi bred sometime in the past 24-48 hours. You can see the eggs under her on the anubias leaf. Good times. They've only been in the tank 2 weeks or so. I was kind of hoping for a pair, and I guess I got them. Not sure if I want to re-home the other 2 or not. I think I'll just monitor the aggressiveness of all 4 and see if I need to. I don't know what I would replace them with other than more Congo Tetras honestly. As a side note, any way I can get this thread moved to Tank Setups or some such? I know it's not in the right place as is, and I apologize it morphed from a Q/A thread to something like a journal. Attachments:
