Here's a pick of my female marbled or calico convict. I have a pair of these guys. They are a naturally occuring variat that comes from a ressesive trait. If you have convicts that have the trait they have a chance of producing calico's. The genetics to get a calico convict are much the same as calico cats. Calico cons breed true and will produce all calico offspring. Regular convicts with the trait can produce a small number of calico's. I think they are a pretty cool fish. They have the normal convict attitude.

I might grab a few too. I have 5 convicts living together and I think 4 are female. Will this be an issue once they pair off.

I'd be glad to give you some too Jon.
It is going to depend on what tank you have them in. Convict pairs when breeding are as aggressive as anything and completely fearless. They will protect there fry to the death from any fish. What size tank do you have them in?

I have them in a 90g with the Geo's. They are about a couple of inches now.

If you provide lots of cover and line of sight breaks you shouldn't have any trouble with that many cons in a 90g. Once they start breeding they are going to shred the geo's though. Just be on the watch for any trouble and have another place to put the geo's when they start breeding or a divider ready. They can be brutal when they have fry and a geo wouldn't stand a chance against them.
I'll let you know when my baby cons are close to an inch.

JD, it's difficult to tell for sure from the pics and I didn't make note of it seeing them--you have so many cool fish! Are they supposed to be fat? Ours we got from you have bellies. I don't think they're being overfed and they don't appear ill. They're just chubby.

JD, Have you ever had a platinum convict? I've only seen one and it was awesome. I'm not sure if they are naturally occurring or not. Joe
