I received my acceptance letter for nursing school this past Friday!!!!!!! Still kinda freaking out. So many people thought I was crazy to start this while the children were still so small but I did it!! Now... 3 semesters from now I will be a Registered Nurse!
(Tina, this was especially for you, I know we have talked about it)

Congratulations April!!!! I've been waiting to hear this! No you're not crazy--you have more energy while the kids are small. The older you get the rougher it is to pull the all-nighters you'll need to study. You're gonna have the career you wanted, and that'd excellent!

Congratulations April and don't let people dictate your life, do what you need to do.
I started college for a degree in computer science when I was 29 and my little girl was 7. I went to school during the day and worked at night, four years later I completed. Then after two years, I went back for a masters.
What school will you be attending?

Great news. It's amazing what people can do when they set their mind to it. I can't think of better motivation than the chance to improve life for your family. There's bound to be some tough times balancing school and life in general, but I have no doubt you can do it. Congratulations.

Thanks everyone! Well, I began college in January '06 with 4 children, one too young to be in school. I was thirty and found out half way through my first semester I was pregnant with #5..... I stayed out fall semester to have her but went right back the following Spring. I have not taken a break until this summer. I was tired and burned out and knew I had no business being in a classroom this summer. I applied to Roane State a year ago and they pretty much laughed all the way to the mail box telling me no. A friend applied to Lincoln Memorial University and was accepted so I applied. I honestly had given up. My GPA is slightly lower than 3.0 so I just figured they had enough younger people with better grades then the "big" envelope came. I screamed!!! I really appreciate you all!!! Come August I may be few and far between but you know why ;P Sirknight I am in Knoxville but will be attending Lincoln Memorial University in Blount County and serving my clinicals at Blount Memorial Hospital. This is a 3 semester program, most of them are 4 so I am so excited, but I know this will be the toughest yet.
