Welcome Sam. How did you find the forum ?
Lots of cichlid folks here but some other fish (and plant) folks too.
I used to be into the guppies, attended a IFGA annual meet once a few years back. Used to take their monthly publication also. For the life of me I can't think what it was called right now. Help me to remember. :-) What colors of gup's are you breeding ?
I am mainly an Angel, sm S.A. cichlid, and BN Pleco guy now though.
I'm sure we and/or others will be able to talk fish/plants/tanks/etc...; so do plan on joining us on 4-25-10 in Gallatin for our 2nd swap/meet. It should be a blast ![/quote
Hanna Anderson inquired about one of my auctions on AquaBid. I told her I had been looking for a local fish club for some time. She was kind enough to give me your link.
The IFGA doesn't do a "hard copy" publication, any more, that I know of. I've only been a member for a year, or so. That was probably before my time. I would love to see one if you have any. Every month they post on their website what they call the "eBulletin". They compile those in CD format, as well. I am also a member of the New England Fancy Guppy Association (NEFGA). They are IFGA affiliated and produce a very nice monthly bulletin. Also, delivered electronically.
For show purposes, I'm keeping Full Yellows and Half-Black Pastels. I've got a line of Blue Cobras coming in next week. They come from a high quality breeder, but I don't think they will be show quality. Since you're an Angel guy, have you ever heard of David Hlasnick? He recently bought some of my Yellow guppies for show purposes. I think he's written several books on Angels, but does guppies on the side. He is a super nice guy.
I also have a few ABNs and Albino Cories. I bought them to breed, but have never really followed through. I do love watching them. Especially the Plecos. They act so shy and peaceful, but if you crowd them you're gonna get bumped. The Cories --> perpetual motion.
I'm looking forward to the swap meet. I don't have an address yet, but I'm sure I will pick it up between now and then. I really appreciate the kind welcome and look forward to meeting everyone. Sincerely, Sam Malone
