I've always assumed this was a female yellow lab but the last two days he's been feverishly digging a pit. An impressive one at that. As you can see there's no black on him whatsoever. I thought he looked like a metraclima but most(not all) of those are blue males. What have I got?

I think it might be a cross. It looks like it has some yellow lab features.

Well then I hope he doesn't find anything to breed with!

I don't know it might not be, but it would probably breed with any mbuna it can find. Where did you get it? How big is it? It looks like a female, but it does have some male behavior.

I keep trying to remember where it came from. I just can't think of where! It's at least 3". It's now guarding the spot it made. There really aren't that many females in there so it's a slim chance it'll get anyone to breed with. I'm ending up with a male tank without planning for it. But there's at least one yellow lab that's a girl and one acei. The lemon jake's a boy his face shows a lot of color. But that's not a mbuna anyway so it wouldn't have mattered. And two of the firefish are girls, plus the red fin borleyi I got from you and I think that's it for the ladies there.

The rosy flash it has is pretty.
