Hi all. My name is Joe and I'm new to the forum, but not the hobby. 45 years and counting of fish keeping! I hail from the "north" side of Nashville - Grand Rapids, Michigan to be exact. I ran across your group while on an extensive hunt for some africans I'm having trouble finding. Jon didn't have those fish, but others have caught my eye on his list.
I have family both in Nashville and Paris, and get down to Tennessee to visit once or twice a year. I also travel to Nashville on business at least once a year as well, so I'm hoping to take advantage of my trips to your area to meet up with Jon at least and get some fish.
Michigan used to have a huge network of african cichlid hobbyists years ago, but most are gone. There's only a couple of us left that are serious about africans. Most are either out of the hobby, have moved out of state(Michigan is losing a LOT of jobs these days), or switched to saltwater.
I am currently running over 2,000 gallons, all africans. I sometimes have a tank or two of new worlds, but not right now. I love geophagus and will have more again soon.
Thinking of Nashville has got me hungry for barbeque. They just can't do barbeque in Michigan. Somebody want to send me up some Whitt's barbeque? Just kidding!
Joe

Hey Joe! Welcome to the group! You might not have BBQ but you have Tim Horton's coffee and Denny's so it balances out. And snow! We're from Michigan and Ohio. Damn yankees. We came to the South and stayed!

Really curious--what fish are you looking for? Hi Angel, Here goes: P. Phenochilus " mdoka" - top of my want list for 3 years now. Tyrannochromis nigriventer - f1 or wild stigmatochromis spilostictus Buccochromis leptura wc male Tyrannochromis macrastoma wc females Lepidiolamprologus kendalli (Nkambae) - may have just found a wc pair Nice big altolamp. compressiceps pair, something on the rare side And some not so rare, but still on my list: T. Ilangi fry - f1 or f2 is fine, just so they're real ilangi Some nice burundi frontosa - suddenly, wild burundi fronts are the "in" frontosa, but I've wanted some for a couple of years now. I just don't want f50. There's more, but I have to stop somewhere! The mdoka are the ones I just can't find anywhere, and the bucco leptura male either. The rest I've found here and there, but always too far to pick up and not enought other fish I want to make up a shipment.

No, although they are very nice. These: Sorry, very poor picture. These are my fish. I've never pretended to be good with a camera. The pic does not do their blue justice at all. These are bright blue, no stars, and bright white lips. What makes them so desirable is that the females are just as brightly colored as the males are. Very unusual with haps.

Those are really nice! The picture is very good. The thing about these websites is they're rarely up to date. Just can't count on anything

I was hoping! I've dealt with them before, but I hadn't checked their site in a while.

Welcome tnnsman7. Nice to have another cichlid lover on board. When you have some time, we'd love to see some pics of your tanks and fish. Sounds like you have a lot of stuff going on there.

MORE BLUE FISH!!!! Welcome, and if you think Nashville has BBQ, come 3 more hours to Knoxville..... We lived in Nashville for 5 years while my husband worked toward his PhD. I was madly craving BBQ one of the times I was pregnant and was not pleased with Whitt's. We have really good barbecue here. I know you all have Calhoun's on White bridge Road, its really good and Buddy's is amazing!
