Two has worked for mine. But I always swish them around until they melt in the water. That way I know they're not eating too cold of food and they'll come up higher to get them. Then the other feedings I"ll do crushed flakes.

Fry are very hardy. I've had some survivors in my community Mbuna tank. Sometimes I would only feed them once a week and I was surprised the fry were making it. I've got at least 5 little scrappers at the moment. They are getting big enough to be bold now, though.
