Working well . Still running the Hang-on filters in addition to the linear system. Afraid to let go of them just yet. I've got a couple of angel fish with red around their mouths so that tank in particular, not knowing what is going on and the various levels reading perfectly, I don't want to make any changes.

If you want 100% assurance I would run both for a full 2 months. You don't have anything to lose that way and it will give the sponges time to get good and cycled. If you are still worried switch over a couple tanks at a time until they are all on the air system.

I actually have pulled two of them. The betta tank, because they breathe air anyway, and one of the ones I made from the diatomous earth filter, and I had stuffed a sponge and some bioballs in there so I used the sponge on one of the air sponge filters. I'm watching that one closely as I don't know for certain if one of the #4 sponges can sufficiently clean a 55 gallon but supposedly it can. If not, there will be a filter placed back on it and I'll be looking for a bigger unit in the future.

I would use 2 ,#4 if you are overstocked, if not one would work.

Cool. Not overstocked at all down there. But I'll keep watching it anyway.

Hey, Tina. When you get some time and are in the mood, would you take some detailed pics of how this system is set up, starting from the pump out to the tanks? I'm having trouble picturing how it all works. No rush...just something I'd like to know about in case I decide to do something similar down the road.
On another front, did you get everything straightened out with your tanks and the problems you were having with the fish dying a couple weeks ago? Hope so.

Yes. The fish I had just recently had trouble with told the tale. It seems septicemia came in. A little metro flake fixed it. I never thought it could be that. My tanks aren't bad. But I did recently bring fish in and it probably came in with them. All fixed now. Thankfully the white and blue ones I just got were light enough I could see what was actually happening and fix it. I'll take pics but not for a couple of days yet. I'm flying off to Philadelphia in the morning and won't be back til Monday evening. Dennis will be here though.
