Roger, aren't those things fun to catch. I fish quite a bit. I caught a flathead out of Watts BAr several years ago that went over 50 lbs.

It's where people jump into the water and reach up into underwater holes and caves to catch catfish bare handed. Not for the faint of heart. I've seen it on TV.

My husband catches them mostly by trotline. I don't think they're flatheads, though. Here's a pic from a few yrs ago, my boston is modeling to give you an idea of size (she's about 17-18 lbs)

those are blue cats. They are the largest cats we get around here. My personal best is 62lbs and I was 15yrs old at the time. so over half my life ago. Largest flat head I have ever caught was about 50lbs and was in same area but about 7 years ago. other than that have tons of 20-30lbs under my belt but not in a good while. largest I have caught past 2 years was only about 20lbs and was a blue cat also. I have never fish with a trot line. I have thought of trying it though.
