Looks good angel. If it is LFS bought it is almost certainly a labiatus citrinellum cross. I call pretty my all pet store "red devils" midevils since they are always crosses of the 2. These guys can be a little shy when young. When it get some size it will most likely one day out of the blue start to terrorize one fish. After you remove the picked on fish it will start on another one and so on and so on until it is the only fish in the tank. Sometime people get lucky and find non aggressive ones but not usually. If the tank is big enough sometimes they can be kept with other amphilophus, parachromis, or parathraps (spelling).
Talk to Reagen about your fish at the fish swap. I think he could be qualified as a amphilophus expert from what I have seen of his fish.

He(?) came from PetSmart. They sell these and midas but they look pretty much the same. It's probably 7 inches. Not full grown by any means.

Dawww. My Elphaba is a cross, too. She was plenty mean by that size, though!

One of us should be albe to look at it at the swap and tell you what it is. Looks like on the swap list Reagen is going to bring some nice pure lines so maybe you can get it a mate.
If it is 7" maybe you got lucky and it won't be aggressive. I still wouldn't trust it though, these things can change overnight.

I think it is awesome when people manage to have several large aggressive fish in the same tank together. Elphaba likes to keep her tankmates sleeping with the fishes.

Hey Tina, our boys were not nearly as "devilish" as our 1 female. She was 1/2 the size of the boys and three times as mean. The boys were more mischievous but if they pissed her off she would take their sides off. We had about 5 at one time in a 55 gallon. She would dig and then spit the gravel at them!!! I used to watch her to make sure she really was spitting it at them instead of just moving it out of her way. It's been years but some things you just do not forget....

By the way, he's still not mean. And I still don't care for this fish. If anyone wants to trade I'm open for it.

You are lucky to have one that is not mean.
The one I had would even attack me.

It's not the brightest colored RD by any means. But it's not that ugly. Most of the petsmart "red devils" look like that when they grow up. At least it's not mean. Plus I respect it's dislike of blood parrots . Nothing against people that like them.

For lack of a better name for it. I still don't care much for it. It's got a pretty eye. But the hump it's got on its head is unappealing to me.
