True, that all fish, CAN get bloat. It is not common in SA/CA like it is in Africans. Most cases of bloat are a result of feeding higher protien foods in large quanities. Stress also causes this disease, and salt will cause it. In Tropheus, since they are so easily stressed I think it has much to do with the many out breaks of bloat in this particular strain of cichlid.. Remember that it is called Malawi bloat for a reason. It is primarily a African Cichlid Disease that effects them more than other types of fish.
