This guy is growing like a weed. Already up to 16". Everyone seems to notice it first in my large display tank.

It can open it's mouth the size of it's body. Fortunately it only does that for pellets and my hand. It bit the crap out of me the other day.

Guess he loves YOU then! Maybe he considers himself your wife's fish.

I was getting ready to reach in and adjust some driftwood. I just barely had my finger in the water and he thought it was a food stick. There is a lot of competition for food so they really go after pellets. He latched on to my finger pretty good. Just barely drew some blood.

i can only hope that mine grow that big and beautiful. THanks. I need to get some updated pics of this guy up. He is over 20" and much thicker now. I'm going to keep him in the 220g until he gets 25" then he will be going in an indoor pond. My goal is to have one of the largest black aro's in the US in a couple years . Hoping he will get to at least 34"

The pond will be in my room in the garage . The aro is eventually going to outgrow the 220g so if I want to keep him I have to upgrade!! Fortunately for me the wife loves this fish. Just saw your poste from a while back razor27. Not sure were you are seeing the dropeye. Maybe it's just the angle of the pictures. Currently his eyes are still perfect and hopefully they stay that way. Blacks are not very likely to get drop eye. They can, but there are only a few cases of it ever recorded. Silvers get drop eye all the time and it is more common to see them with dropeye then without. If mine is going to get dropeye it will probably happen in the next 4-6". It is highly unlikely though. That was the main reason I paid for a wild caught black. They stay slightly smaller then silvers and do not normally get dropeye.
