Also adopted this blood parrot. Our grandson calls them blood carrots so we do too. The red devil found his mean streak when he went in! Dennis is moving him now. Trying him with the geophagus. If that doesn't work maybe the chocolates?

Wow, very unusual looking. I love the look on the RD's face....classic "I'm about to kick your butt" look, haha!

It more then likely will end up solid. BP's peel just like red devils or midas do. It looks like it is in the proccess and will probably be solid red in 6 months or so. Most of the ones in stores have been fed hormone enriched food to make the color up early.
Are you moving the BP or the RD? Please don't put the red devil with the geo's or chocolate. They have no chance of survival if the red devil decides he doesn't like them. Which will without a doubt happen at some point if not immedeately You will get up one morning and they will be descaled. It will not end nicely. The red devil dislikes the blood parrot becuase they are the same color and blood parrots are bred from a RD/midas mix.

We moved the BP. But he was chasing the Geos and the decision was to put him back with the red devil and let them duke it out. There are two small BP in there and he accepted them. This one is just his size so he's pissy. I think the best chance is there. The only other option is big BP with jacks in 125.

I think he will end up solid. One of my BPs had some of this coloration early on, but with good water changes and stable parameters (both of which I know you have) it went away and it's bright orange now. I found that when stressed (I originally had them in with two large severums) it came back, but with a large change - and eventually separating the severums - all was well.

He was already 7-8". But we'll never know. He didn't make it. The red devil wouldn't allow him out of the corner and he just didn't live.
