I had read all of those over the last few days. The cold spell really devistated lots of aquarium fish farms. Probably many millions of fish lost. The guy that I buy all of my pleco's down there lost all his fish that he kept oustide. Fortunely he had most of his stuff inside but still lost a ton of breeding stock and many of it is not replacable due to Brazil collection restrictions. I have been worried about the fish that I'm ordering with you Jon. I'll feel a lot better when you PM me and say they have them all in stock. We are talking about fish that mostly are completely extinct in the wild and this florida breeder is the only main supplier on this side of the pond. This is definately going to really raise the price of some fish. Some are not going to be effected at all and I'm sure some will only be higher for a little bit until they can be restocked. The fish that some of the people were exclusively breeding could even be lost from the hobby for a little while. The cold weather also didn't only effect the fish farms. Most fish brought into the US come in through Florida. A ton of these large orders of imports from SA were completely lost due to the freezing temperatures as well. There were tons of coolers of fish shipped that arrived dead  . |

My guy is about an hour outside Miami I think, so he didn't get it as bad as Lakeland but he did still lose a lot. Eddie Martin with Bluegrass gets most of his from Lakeland so I bet his guy is hurting.
