These are shots of the cabomba Bunnie brought over earlier this week. There's new growth already. I'll be sharing them with ree123 tomorrow since I didn't kill them I'm not the murderess I claim to be, but my lighting isn't the best for plants. Fortunately, these aren't very demanding. Attachments:

Yeah. But as you know, I've got cichlids. Most of them shred plants like bad office memos.

One tank of angels barebottomed, snail tank barebottomed, and angel tank has BGA so that leaves one tank. Community. New tanks going in. We'll see what transpires.

Update a year later........put these plants out in my pond. they have done excellent !
Now a current question for any members with plant experience...... I have learned that one can use the liquid fertilizer Miracle Grow, dilute it in 1/2 or so, and use @ a rate of 1 drop per 10 gallons every week for much increased plant growth. Opinions ?

No comments from a sole here ? I know most of you have the big Cichlids though, thus no plants.

The Nitrogen in Miracle Grow comes from urea and ammonia. At least the blue powder one is that way. A fertilizer can help of course, but you should look carefully at the ingredients and make sure everything is kosher... terrestiral ferilizers are not made to be safe for fish. If there aren't any fish in the tank, I don't think it could be a problem.

Thanks Bunnie. Another question --- I want to grow Broad Leafed Water Sprite. I have gotten it several times and keep watching it waste away. Now I know from my Angelfish story that I told in the Angel section, that there is some key thing I am either doing or not doing that is killing this plant over and over. I have a variety of lights, compact Fl. as well as shop lights with various bulbs and old fashioned reg. Fl. Aq. hoods. ----- My water is tap @ 7.2 and 17 degrees gen. hardness. ----- My substrate is varied, bare bottom tanks, ole aq. gravel tanks, and Soil Master Select bottom tanks. ----- I have tried powder EI fertilizer from the guy in Fla. and I have tried no fert's. ----- I do have Ramshorn and Malaysian snails present. Tanks have Angels, Rams, Kribs, BN Pleco's. Advice ? This is a really nice plant and I really want to master this. There has got to be something else to try. But what ?

OK. No answers coming........ I have talked to the guy in NY who can supply more Water Sprite to me. -----He says any lighting, but strong will do. -----He says any water parimeters, ie: ph and hardness ( mine = 7.2 and 17 gdh) -----he says crush or remove all snails, which i have not done. maybe......a problem i have ramshorn and Mylasian snails present in many of my tanks. -----he says reg. temps, ie: 72 to 80, which my tanks are. -----he says no salt. I use NaCl. crystals to make my own declor, which is a salt. I always thought that it was a mynute amt. I was putting in, but he thinks I might be salting them to death. Dosen't seem logical, and I don't know what other product doesn't have this chem. in it also to declor water. -----So what does any of you think ? This could apply to any plants, not just this Water Sprite I am asking about. -----U all help me figure this one out please. Thanks ree123

You can carbon filter the water so not to use additives and eliminate the salt. Mike

Thanks so much Mike !!! Would I do that from the sink or have to do some plumbing construction ? Remember, my fish room is in 1/2 of our garage so pretty is not really in the picture for my room. Practical is. Suggestions where I should look for pic's and or read up on it. Expensive ? Also remember I have 60-70 tanks, various sizes. I guess I could just have a few do this to. Right now only about 12 of them even have plants.
