Come home today to feed my tanks their evening meal; when I got to my 33cube with the cyps I recieved from mruble for my birthday....DEAD. All of them. Quick look at temp was 101. Also found my 2 baby corys dead. Only one fish left to find....My Royal Pleco...Still alive. Ice dump and two water changes abt 30min apart. One with warmer water, the second with cooler water. Still looks ok. Will try and net him and put him in the 90. Probibly in the morning . Don't want to really shock it like that. I feel so upset and guilty. Those we becomming my favorite fish. The colors were stunning. (if you want to know exactly what they were, you'll have to ask Mark) Im so sorry.

Hate to hear it. I've never yet had a heater stick, but have heard lots of these type stories. Guess it's all a part of the hobby though. Does make you sick when you lose due to any reason, let alone a simple equipment malfunction.

Sorry to hear this. I'm just getting back into the hobby after 30 years. A lot of things have changed, some have not. You would have thought someone could have come up with an inexpensive reliable thermostat.

Reliable yes but inexpensive not so much . I got one on ebay to shut the heater off if it sticks on recommendation from Joe. However, I didn't get enough of them. SO I have had a heater malfunction last week among everything else and lost a few red zebras in the bathwater. It seems like last year at this time these things were happening too I wonder why they malfunction at the first sign of warm weather? I'm really sorry Phil. It hurts, I know. Maybe Mark has some more if you wanna do it again.

I use jager heaters and they are great. This is only after having bad experiences with the cheap ones. I have a dealer that sales them and a couple other types pretty cheap if anyone needs any.

I feel for you. I lost a salt water tank to the same thing. Cooked everything. It was heartbreaking to watch my clowns die even though I tried to cool the tank down. I will not go back to salt water after that. Sold it all. Too much money to lose all at once. I have also changed over to the jagar heaters and love them.
