Love the Male Vieja Argentea. Are these named for Argentina?

Not sure were the name came from but it was probably the person that found it named by that person. They come from Mexico so I doubt it has anything to do with argentina but you never know why something was named what it is.

Mid level aggression for CA cichlids. Not to mean but can hold it's own. They are slow growers but get big. 14" of so for adult males.

I thought they'd be absolutely stunning in a tank with a chocolate. 14" is probably kind of big to put with a chocolate though. At least longterm. How well do New Worlds do with large mystery snails, do you know? I had some small HRPs in with some of the mysterys when they were small and they were picking at the snails.

Nice pic's JD. I like the 4th one down you described as " one in mid peel and wonder what color it will be ", and the Argentea. I am guessing though that the first I mentioned gets big also. Correct ? I like it's color in your pic. but will it get bigger and change ?

I really like the Fenastratus male too. Would like to watch it swim a while and see all the colors.

The fish would do great, the snails would not . It would need to be a large tank to keep them with a chocolate. They are usually a good bit more aggressive then a chocolate would be. They will get in the 8-10" range. The are all barred when yound then peel to there adult coloration as they grow. Same as colored red devils and midas do. That one in about a month will look completely different. I could be soild orange, orange and white, mostly white, orange white and black or any mix of those 3 colors.
