My parents and I are planning a trip to Gulf Shores, despite the degrading water and beach conditions, because that is our favorite destination. Right now beach officials are flying double red flags, meaning that the water is not safe for swimming, and machinery has been deployed for tarball cleanup. We're planning on being gone for only 4 days, but I don't want to return to any dead fish like I did on my last trip away from home.
While I wait for the weekend of the 4th to get here, I would like to start planning on how the fish in my 2 tanks will be fed.
For the 10-gallon w/ just one Betta, I have an electronic feeder that I will setup to feed small amounts in the morning and evening.
I haven't had much luck with the gels, except for the plecos and cories seem to like them, but they don't release food into the water column like the white blocks. But there's also the mysterious compound that's used in those white blocks? Is it safe and will not alter the water parameters too much?

I don't feed on vacation and they are always fine when I return. Especially 4 days they should be fine.

I sort of wondered that too, about little tetras. They can handle fasting too?

Of course when I go I'll need to have Dennis and Eric feed the fish--I'll be gone 10 days. But still wondered about the fasting thing for others.
