Man... what a week. As some of you know, I had ordered some Seachem Metro to treat a possible parasitic infection in my Sajicas. Well, it was scheduled to come in last Wednesday, but that didn't happen. We had some flooding last week, not nearly the extent that hit Nashville in May, but pretty significant. Enough to put about 5 inches of water in my mom's house. So, I had to strip all of my tanks down and move them while we all pulled carpet up and emptied everything out. I was able to move the 75G, and my 2 10G on Saturday, and got the 55G moved on Sunday. The stand I built for the 75 may be toast. The bottom is still drying out. It appears to still be sound, but there is some waviness to it. The good news is, I think I can replace the bottom without too much trouble since it's mounted in with deck screws and not nailed. I'm just going to have to give it another week to dry some more, then I'll be able to check everything over for cracks. If the sides are splitting, it will be easier just to build a new stand than to try to replace the sides and bottom. Even though I loved the way that stand looked, if I have to build another it's just going to be some 4x4s and 2x4s this go around. Right now it's sitting on cinder blocks and 2x10s and I'm sorely tempted to leave it that way.
Anyway, so I finally started dosing the Metro on Sunday. It seems to be helping. All of the fish are out swimming now. They still have some white feces, but it's getting more solid instead of stringy, and they are eating somewhat. Since I'm having luck dosing the water column, I'm just going to keep doing that until I use up all of the Metro I have left.
Now for the even better news... I have Sajica eggs. =D
Tuesday I noticed that they had been digging behind some of my rock work, and then today I went to see if they were still digging, and instead I found the female guarding about 40 orange specs on the rocks. I hope the Metro won't affect the fry. They couldn't have picked a worse time to breed, but no way of telling them that I guess.
I also have about 50-60 Krib eggs as well. I should have known. It's the week of the 20th. She's only 2 days late, and I guess I can account for the move to cause that. Normally it's the 24th of every month with the kribs.
I've also somehow wound up with a gold barb fry, and 2 red tux swordtail fry that are about 2 months apart. I think the gold barb came from some java fern I moved out of the 55 and into the 10 when I set it up for my 2nd batch of Kribs. Surprisingly I've kept him alive for quite a while (2 mos now). I think he's going to grow out fine.
I have now successfully bred (if you count accidents) every fish I own with the exception of Peppered Corys and Turquoise Rainbows.
PS - I'm starting to run out of 10Gs =P
