How did everyone make it last night with a fishroom?
The temp in my garage got down to 65 last night with 3 1800w heaters and my 4 ton unit is blowing in there full blast. I have made up my mind that it is time to drop a grand and get insulated garage doors.
If anyone knows a good place to get them let me know. I have checked home depot and lowes, and will probably go with the ones at home depot.
All fish were fine this morning, but my breakers kept tripping last night and I had to set my alarm for every couple hours so I could wake up and check.
I didn't want the great tropheus death of last year to happen again when I lost 28 full grown wild pinneapple tropheus to bloat when I was in Puerto Rico and it got down to 9 or 10 and my breakers tripped. Most of my other fish survived but the tropheus are supper sensitive to changes, especially wild ones.
The first winter I started keeping tanks in my garage, I didn't put any heat out there, and I remeber walking in one morning and seeing a 1/4" of ice in the tank. All the fish were at the bottom frozen. I didn't do anything, and when it warmed up, they all were alive. It was a electric Blue, a couple red zebras, and a yellow lab.
I called a couple fish farms and they said there water temp gets as low as 50 all the time and that their water is deep enough that the fish go down and hang at the bottom. They just don't ship until it warms up and they have a few days to recover.

I'm running 2 space heaters downstairs and barely any tanks have individual heaters so when I go downstairs I'm always holding my breath. But it was fine night before last so it shoudl have been fine again. Will see shortly.

Mines highly insulated so fortunately I didn't have any trouble. I use a space heater to keep it a 78 in there and don't run any tank heaters.

No problems here. Let's hope it stays that way!

Water is 78 and running well. I use the air systme to help work the water. I put the air pump next to a space heater and it blowes the warm air through the water. The room is 74.

So does the unit get warm or the pipe or what? I'd like to try that.

I had the system for years but never tought of it. It does help. The temp of the pips are about the same as always. The pump does not feel worm but the pipes are.
