While I love my fish, reptiles are the creatures that hold my heat. As soon as I'm in a bigger place I'll be able to get back into keeping them and the first one I'll be getting is a baby Bearded Dragon. My first reptile was a Bearded Dragon named Miss Priss. She lived with me for 10 fantastic years before passing away from old age. I loved her so much, and miss her. Since she has been gone I've had a few dragons, but they were only rescues and only stayed with me long enough to rehabilitate them then find them a great home. So, without further adieu, meet Miss Priss:
Now, for some of my rescues!
Spunk, baby male Bearded dragon. I used to work at Extreme Pets in Smyrna, and the guy who owed it was a complete idiot. I told him day after day not to keep two bearded dragons in a tank together, especially a tiny 10 gallon and especially 2 males. He wouldn't listen. When I found this guy with his foot severely injured by his brother/tank mate, and brought him to my boss...my boss told me to toss him into the FREEZER! Just insane. So instead I took him home, got him to a vet for an antibiotics shot, and with the correct care and some TLC the foot fell off and he healed up. He's now in a fantastic home in Georgia with a friend of mine. Meet Spunk (named so because the little guy would always try to scare me off by puffing his bearded and jumping at me...it was so cute!)
And here's Spunk's new home:
There have been tons of rescues, but now I'm just going to show you some of the geckos I bred (leopard and crested)
Now some of my tegus (Xander, Aiden, and Abeni....Aiden and Abeni were rescues)
Abeni is up first. She had a prolapsed cloaca and the vet told me it was going to cost me $1,200 to fix it Well, I just didn't have that kind of money, so I just got her an antibiotics shot and hoped for the best. Within a week after soaking in veggie oil and water every day the cloaca fell OFF. I thought for sure she was a goner, but the next night she was ready to eat again! After a month of showing signs of being healthy (and getting rather fat : I found her a new home.
Next up is Aiden. This guy was another rescue from that horrid pet store I worked at. He didn't have the proper lighting or food so he developed MBD (Metabolic Bone Disease) which deformed his tail and lower jaw. After proper care the deformities straightened out a bit but he'll forever have the odd squiggles in his tail and the 'bow' in his lower jaw:
Now here's Xander, who was my first tegu
Sorry for the pics overload...but I love my reptiles
