Since I do live in onpost house space is limited so i can not have a 20gal per species like i would like to have for a growout tank. Right now im setting up a 55gal im going to use as a growout for 6-8 groups of mbuna once they hit the 1in mark. What do you all think of this good or bad. Will this work?

Could you divide the tank twice to give you three sections?

Well i setup the 55gal i picked up cheap off craigslist today. Right now i got 9 fry growing out to be ready for this tank and i have a lab hongi, zebra long pelvic and 2 zebra long pelvics holding. So by the time they are ready to move to the bigger tank the 55 should be fully cycled.

If you mix differant age fry, you might want to seriously consider the tank division idea. You can buy several different select items from Home Depot or Lowes to use for this purpose. Go to the lumbar section near doors and windows and find the crragated plastic sheets that have various sized holes in them to see what will work for you. You can even check out various sized bulk plastic screening with various sized openings in them. If you need to frame your screening, you can buy various plastic wall strips for various applications, and cut the sticks to connect with Aq. cement to your particular applications. Just a few ideas to get you started when you go shopping. Let us know how the plan continues please.
