Sorry rick. I reckon I got you beat. I have metal framed, real slate bottomed tanks, made by the Metaframe company from about 50 years ago. I have several. They all hold water, but I use none of them now. They are antiques and I keep them for prosperity only. The Metaframe company probably went out of business long before Bryan was even born. They were a popular company in the 1950's and 1960's. I have been keeping fish since about 1963.

I am not sure, but believe most tanks have the manufacturer name on the lip of the tank them. Some had labels under the bottom, as a little tag, attached to the frame.

hah. nice thread.
your tank is not older than me but older than all my tanks.
my 55 gallon which for the first time ever is now sitting idle was bought 18 years ago. still remember the day i shoved it into the back of my first car when i was 16 and drove it home.
never been modified or resealed. granted, it has its share of scratches, and has held everything from oscars, jack dempseys, convicts, texas cichlids, red belly piranhas, haps and mbuna. it still holds water like a champ and has followed me through 5 moves.

You can't beat that for reliability.
