Since im putting my multis in my 29 and for now i know in my 125 ill have cyps, julis, calvus as of right now for sure how should i setup my 125 as far as aquascape? Should i have rock work on both sides of the tank and leave the middle of the tank open for sand dwellers and open water swimmers?

Yeah, stack rocks in the back leaving alot of sand in front of them for sand dwellers and cyps. or make a stack on each side of the tank.. I have about the same types of fish in my 100gal so it should work nice. you got ur fish yet? if so I would love to know what types of cyprichromis, snad dwellers you got.

Very nice. I havent gotten any fish yet. Most of my fish will be coming from Jon. Tomorrow im getting 6 neo daffodils from Jon and 6 multis that will go in there own 29. Next week ill def be getting some juli transcipts and some calvus. My cyps ill be getting next month from someplace else.
What other fish would you suggest? Just out of curiosity since i dont have the money to do it, could i actually add some small fronts to this tank with the other stocking? Or the other fish that look like front, neo tet?

Fronts grow slowly but their natural diet are cyps...so cyps and fronts don't really go together long term. Mine don't prey on their fry but they love to eat guppies and shrimp...fish that stay up near the surface wouldn't stand a chance...

I got to figure something out by the time these fish come home tomorrow after. I got 6 multis and 6 daffodils coming home. One group is going in the 29g and the other group needs to go into the 125g. Im starting to get really frustrated with this. I do a crap ton of research and i still always seem to mess something up totally.

They might do ok, never tried daffodils with cypr. Something ihave learned about brichardi is they do better with other lamps or neolamp! they will do fine until they start breeding at least. Daffodils are like small armies, the first gen of young takes care of the next gen of young. Really neet fish. I am not sure they should be mixed with cyprichromis though most neolamps and lamps are aggressive and cyprs are not. I guess what u could hope for is that the cypr will stay away from the daffs.
Like I said befor the best tank mates for cyprs seem to be sand dwellers, golbies, feather fins, even my dubs seems to be doing ok with them so maybe they will do ok with tropheus or all sorts.

Don't be afraid to experiment a little. The larger the tank the better. I have a male tri-color cyprichromis in my 240 that terrorizes WC frontosa. This tank also had daffodil brichardi in it with the cyprichromis. This does not mean that whatever you try is going to work. There is no doubt that the frontosa should have ate every cyprichromis in the tank - but they haven't. When fish start spawning all bets are off. Got a breeding pair of goldhead comps - I don't put my hand in that tank! My colony of multies are in a 40 gl breeder. There are four small black calvus in there with no problems. This is also how some people have a lot of tanks - had to set up another one to move a fish into because the housing arrange has changed!

It's just depressing when your $20 fish dies...or your whole colony of $15 each tropheus die....BTDT. That's why we've stuck with fronts...they seem easy in comparison.
