Some on the larger forums get their jollies off being know it alls. I try to be polite if I see a disaster in the making, but at one time I was the guy doing the disaster. I still do really stupid things to see what i can get away with. The best way to learn your stock will or wont work is to try it out. I would do research first of coarse.
The only time I see there being a real need for disagreement would be another giving bad advice. If someone on the forum told someone the nitogen cycle is a three to five day event, i might have to be the know it all butthead and disagree.

In cases of bad info i can understand that, but with some stocklist damn they go nut. I understand when we see someone with a front, jack dempsy, yellow labs, pacu and cort cats in there tank by all mean help them out, suggest stock and what not. I had all tangs in a 125, small ones and small numbers, and sounded like the guy was going to have a heart attack.

Jon makes a good point, trying this is the best way. If you can help someone avoid a train wreck, there is always a polite way to do it. There's no one person on any forum anywhere that knows everything about this hobby. It's not possible. But the ones who think they are that person are generally the ones that cause the most trouble lol. It's all about trial and error and learning from the "good advisors" out there. As we all know, very few things in this hobby are "textbook."

Hey Mark, i agree with you 100% i been using that way for a long time and it works every time. when i get a new breeder i will take all the breeders out of the tank for 24 hrs then put them all in at the same time and never had a bad fight yet in 38 yrs of fish keeping

Mark Ruble, YOUR V.P., wrote above....... This is also why we have recommended to begin your responses here with "In My Opinion" or "In My Experience". Makes people feel that you are not poking them in the eye. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some of the best advice ever spoken, written, and/or posted on any forum ever !!!
I would hope all of us keep this in mind, and most of us do too. When one strays from this ideal, and a problem arises, which has happened here from time to time, I try to take this approach or a similiar one when I have to provide intervention or correct someone either on a personal level re: a posted topic that needs clarifying, or on a private personal level that needs a more firm approach, like politely reminding someone of our policies, etc...
As I was taught by my parents many years ago, and as my life experiences have taught me, politeness goes a long way, as long as a firm and fair approach is pursued and expected.
Great topic !
I like all the comments from you all. Thank you for being a great group of members. I am proud to be serving you all as YOUR President. I really am.
Rick
