Well im sure like myself a lot of you are other forums to meet adfitional friends and to get other opinions. What is really starting to piss me off about these larger forums it seems like no matter what the original thread is about the have to start ripping the OP on there setup.
For instance i started a thread asking some info on a powerhead. And some how it got to what i had stocked in the tank and you guessed it they started saying you need to change your entire stock list cause it wont work. They say all this without knowing what my knowledge is, the research i have put in or knowing what plan of actions i have set in place incase it doesnt work.
They just jump to saying it wont work. Instead of just making a suggestion. Not every cichlid acts the same let alone fish to fish. What works for someone may not work for someone else. Also something that shouldnt work may work if you have just the right number of each fish and if your tsnk is aquascaped correctly.
Sorry for ranting so much, but just had to get that off my chest.

I've not found any other larger forums that are very welcoming.
I lurk on monster fish keepers a lot. My biggest complaint with other forums is anytime someone asks for a fish ID you get 15 people that all say hybrid. I'm thinking about trolling one day and posting an f1 or something else I know to be pure and seeing how many hybrid! responses I get.

I mean for real!?!? I know on the bigger ones you have a ton more people on them so that means a bunch more opinions, but do they really have to rip on everyone?

It is par for the course on the internet. People act pretty abrasive when there is no physical connection. I think our community works well because we all know there are people here we can interact with in real life.
I have found some helpful and nice people on other forums. The moderators on MFK are an example.

This is also why we have recommended to begin your responses here with "In My Opinion" or "In My Experience". Makes people feel that you are not poking them in the eye.

I agree with that 120%. That would stop the majority of these conflicts

I think most fish are fine if you get them all young together. its when you try and mix adults where it can get real ugly. imo.

I try to get all my fish as juvies or fry for that reason. Also if i can i try to stock the entire tank in a short time frame so that the juvies can all be in the tank togethet, grow out together and hopefully tolerate each other in the long run.

I have seen this time and again on forums, fish related and otherwise. I enjoy the atmosphere here because of the lack of that very thing. Now get those cichlids separated fool! Haha kidding! I like the idea of putting a wild caught on there Sig.

Brian, be careful with those multies. The two times that I added "stranger multies" to the colony, the existing colony tried to kill them. Had to get all fish out of the tank and reintroduce them as one group - then everything was fine.

I'm hoping my multies (from 2 different sources, but added at the same time) pull together soon to evict the julie that seems to think he belongs over the shellbed! He and the other big julie were locking lips almost right away (I think they started in the bag, actually) and I believe the "loser" had to go over to the rockpile. Will be funny when the "winner" gets the boot.

Nice, bnoel. Sadly I spent all my money already at the swap meet, and now my wife and daughter both want betta tanks! (and of course the 2.5g tank that I already have isn't good enough... my wife wants a Fluval Chi, and my daughter keeps asking for a 5gallon hex, and I keep telling my daughter she's getting a 10 gallon rectangular... I don't get to tell my wife she can't have a Fluval Chi after spending $100 on fish at the swap meet though!). No new fish in my immediate future!!!
