Tonight, I re-set up a Rena XP3 on my 55 in the garage that had been sitting dry for a few months. I got it running and came back down about a half hour or so later, and it was leaking all over the floor. Probably about half a gallon had leaked out and was fortunately running toward and out of the garage door.
Anyway, did some investigating and found two or three spots near the top of the lid that seemed to be the exit point. All I can think is that when I filled it up using tank water via a siphon hose, I just filled it up too much. Then when the lid went on and the seal was made there was water above the seal that was then pushed out once the power was on and pressure built up. I re-seated the gasket and checked everything else. So far, it's dry. I'll keep an eye out.
Anyone had anything like this happen with that filter? As many of you know, I've always been a big proponent of these canisters and this is the first problem I've ever had. Hopefully my faith in them will continue!

hmm usually if its above the seal it will push out when you clamp it shut and not after the pump starts. Is it possible the gasket just wasn't set right the first time?More often that seems to be the cause of leaking tops
