Impressive. Wonder what the distance is in width from front to back glass ? It looks rather wide, dosen't it ? I see NO fish. Just plants.

I have seen this one before. It was featured in Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine a few months ago.

It didnt have many particulars as I recall. They just had the winners of a contest of similar tanks featured. I will look back though. Pretty impressive.

The trees are pretty basic to do. I've done a similar scape in an older tank. I believe it was my 125g about 2 years ago.
Take the wood, saw the bottom/top flat. Using Slate tiles (for roofing) I used silicone to "glue" them to the tile. let dry, cover with rocks, add water ... etc ... have fun with it, lol.

That is a beautiful tank. I considered doing one like that, but prefer a little more variety. This (http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/aquascaping/79155-waterfall-inside-tank.html) tank inspired me to create a planted tank. It's stunning!

I forget the organization (AGA maybe?) but they have an annual aquascape contest that has some simply amazing entries. I'll try to dig up a link later.

Oh I'm sure I've seen them. I'm addicted to planted tanks and don't even have one put together yet! I've spent many hours browsing through pics of tanks.

The contest is called the International Aquatic Plants Layout Contest(mouthful). It was featured in the January 2012 TFH but the tanks were from 2011. Gold and silver both had these ideas but the silver winner it looks like cork bark was used. The trees are more twisted. I believe the creator was Dmtitriy Parshin. Gold prize, the most similar to the OP was done by Xue Hai.

My pleco's would love that tank with all the wood.
I saw this one too David, but I've forgot where I saw it and how big the tank was.

unfortunately a lot of the Aquascape winners are not full time aquariums... many of them have minimal water to almost just a bog most of the time with sealed lid more like a terrarium.. they are filled with water and a few taller stems added for SHow days. The low growing foreground style plants are much easier to handle and keep low in this situation. they also tend to grow much fuller or denser this way. Beautiful tank no doubt. I am NOT disputing that in the least.. but if there are any fish I doubt they are in THAT tank more than a couple days at a stretch..
Again I am not knocking the aquascape . it almost makes ya expect a big Peacock bass or Large mouth to be cruising through.. I am. just telling the truth ( just about the ONLY aquarium plant that will NOT grow out of water is Vallisneria!)
ALSO the very back plants-- the darker green ones are not really there at all they are painted on the back glass
Still a beautiful sight

"The truth can sometimes hurt" and " The truth will set you free." 2 worthy notations. Thanks for sharing facts Ken. I agree with all that this is a nice picture, but it also reminds me of the current T.V. show, "Tanked." They only show portions as we have discussed in other threads. We as hobbyists know what it take to maintain balanced tanks. This is a nice pic., but not the example of all of the tanks we keep.
