Best replacement filter pad?

I am wondering what is a better filter pad for this wet/dry filter. It seems the stock ones get dirty way too quick and cause some clogging. What do the rest of you use in your wet/dry? Also is there any way to add carbon or something to these because my water is clear but has a slight odor that is sometimes unbearable. Thanks for your help.

I use the poret foam and chemi pure elite if I need carbon
