Hello Everyone! I'm a long time hobbyist currently in Liberty KY, focusing on cichlids and "at-risk" fish in particular, Victorians and Madagascar cichlids specifically. I'm lucky to know JD Gentry and Ben Gates in the MCAS and both have spoken highly of the club here. I'm a member of several fish groups including the ACA, GCAS, GCCA, OCA, LTFF and probably a couple of others, have been around the block in fish clubs for over 25 years. Pics are posted on the ACA blog (user name "paddysdaddy") and on the cichlid room companion ("Cichlid keepers' man cave") and am editing a comprehensive video for youtube under the moniker of madfishkeeper, in case you are saying "who is this guy?" I founded the Jacksonville (FL) Aquarium Society a long time ago and know very well how slowly and carefully a new club needs to form itself. Politics, egos and overworking a few key people cause most clubs to fail and, with care, that will not happen here. I'd encourage all that are able to attend meetings and take some level of responsibility, everyone agree to play nice, work hard when necessary and keep an open mind. Just my opinions. In case anyone wants a road trip, feel welcome to visit my fishroom. I look forward to participating as much as is possible and meeting everyone! Scott Jackson

Hello Scott. I have seen your screen name from time to time here. Glad you have decided to join us in conversation. We love participation. Seems you understand some of the dynamics of clubs so you will fit right in. Thanks for sharing. Hope you and the other members can connect on a friend and hobbyist level, so that all enjoy our hobby just a bit more.

Thanks for stopping in Scott and congrats on your ACA election!! Scott is an excellent fish keeper and breeder and an all around good guy. I need to make it up and get some victorian fry from you next time you have an interesting spawn. My Maculatus made it to free swimming last spawn but then all of them died off . I'm going to up the PH abit a see what happens. Maybe I'll have you some fry soon. How did the Noosibeensis fry do for you?

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! My pleasure to be here. Ben has been to my home a couple of times and can attest to my "out in the sticks" location and yes, JD, looking forward to you visiting. It was asked what fish are in my tanks: Vics and Madagascars mostly but my passion is the CARES conservation program, have about 50 species on their list. Also several Frontosa colonies, a few Theraps types, Synos and Koi and some stuff that's just here for no reason Rick, I was just elected to the ACA BOT and am really excited to have the privilege. Improving membership numbers there is my greatest desire and any input would be appreciated. Looking forward to getting to attend some MCAS functions, I'd love to help with an auction, a show or whatever is planned. Again, thanks for the great welcome! Scott

Scott. Congratulations on your appointment. We are pleased to have you join us here. We look forward to working closely with you next year, and for many years to follow. We hope you will have time in your busy schedule to be an active member with us.
As I am sure you are aware, we are a rather new/small club of < 3 years compared to many clubs across the USA who have been in existence for many more years than we. As we continue to grow, we hope to eventually consider becoming an extension of the ACA, and a long range goal is to host an ACA convention right here among our growing club. Maybe it will be possible for each of us to find ways to assist one another, in order to improve membership numbers for both groups
As time will only tell, based on our continued growth, we may call upon you to assist us in future speakers for our current schedule of bi-annual swap/meets, along with assistance in our future associations with the ACA.
I, along with my fellow members, look forward to your expertise, knowledge, and sharing of information, in order to spur our small group to greater success and achievements towards this goal, and others.
I hope you and I can converse more on this and many other subjects. My e-mail and PM option within our forum are always open and available to all members including yourself, for any and all contact that you might need or desire, as I hope yours will be to me.
Respectively, Rick Easterly MCAA President aka ree123
