Put one of the new Fluval 306s on my 75 gallon tank today. Overall easy setup and it's pushing water like a champ! Came with filter pads, a tray of ceramic rings and two carbon pouches. These new models have the priming pump feature but I never got the filter to fully prime using that, so I had to take the in/out piece out and start a siphon myself, let it run onto a towel until I could get it closed and back in place; then the canister filled the rest of the way with no problem and started running.
So far I'm pleased.

I found that my Fluval's would start better by filling the canister with water before putting the lid back on. At most I only had to pump the prime handle a couple of times.

Yep. I will from here on. This is the first time I've set one up out of the box so I went by the book.

I just installed a fluval 306 and the prime button worked fine.

I could never get it to siphon fully, so that's why I just went with the old school method eventually. Probably never have to do it again unless for some reason I have to take the entire filter off the tank for some reason.
