Those hang on the back overflows are generally troublesome and noisy. You'll be happier with the canister and AC combo. A sump is a great way to go, but I prefer them on drilled tanks with a standpipe like Mark said over the HOB U-tubes.

On my big tank I had a pleco knock off the strainer and then try and go out the whole. Only problem was he got stuck and tank flooded. No matter what you do there is always a chance for a disaster.

ACs are good filters and quieter than Emperors generally.

Ok so did the swap and it is so quiet in there. That FX5 is a beast! Fluval FX5, Fluval 405, and an AC110. Over filtrated maybe? lol
