Here are a few of my tanks. Pretty much all SA or CA cichlids. 220g Getting ready to do a redo on the driftwood in the 220. I have a couple of pieces ordered that should be a big improvement. 90g 72g 60g

Nice, how often do you do maintenance?

60g gets two 50% water changes per week and is filtered with 2 rena XP3 canister filters
72g get one 50% water change per week and is filter with 1 XP2 canister and 1 XP3 canister
90g gets one 50% water change per week and is filter by a 15g sump and a xp3 canister
220g get one 40% water change per week and is filter by a 40g sump rated for a 400g tank with a 1500g/hr pump and one xp4 canister and one FX5 canister.
I have several other growout, breeding, and fry tanks that get the same sort of treatment. I try to over filter all of tanks incase I cannot get to maintenance that week (plus big fish need big filters). But I usually don't have any trouble getting it done. I have a drain line with a pump that I empty the tanks with and refill with a python. I also use the python to vacuum the gravel every 2 weeks.

Thanks angel. I looked at big tanks for a couple years before I ended up with that one.

She is about 4 years old, but has pretty much always had the coloration. She has gotten a little more red as she got older but not a lot. What kind of oscars do you have?

I do about half that at 1 50% a week unless I see some odd behavior. I wish I could do it twice a week, but I'm thinking of trying a drip system by the end of the summer.

Drip systems are definately the way to go. If I every build a house I'll make sure it's plumbed to meet my aquarium needs much better .
